First, thanks to your avatar I read all your posts in Andrew J. Robinson's voice; I don't know if you're shooting for Garak's style, but you nail it quite well.

Anyway, I personally hope you're wrong. The protagonist has been given too much backstory for my taste as it is (there's a reason Morrowind's opening the best: "Hi, you're a prisoner. Now you're not. *tosses you out into the world*" ). But I can see the logic in your theory.

remember though that cryo weapons that are modable are being added in this fallout.. and are also weilded by the synth android faction... perhaps it is a combination of both.. as to why codsworth doesn't notice.. maybe he does? in the gameplay there was a yellow marked diologue option to ask if something was wrong. perhaps codworth knows the character is an android but due to having no one to serve and only to remain at the house forever decides to accept it.

I'm expecting the protagonist to be revealed as an android with implanted memories at the end of the game. If his wife and son died outside the vault he must've as well; since he was standing outside with them.

For the not being you part, the very concept of the H+ movement disagrees with this.

As a vault Experiment, it seems as plausible as anything else in the FO universe. Though, it would be pretty bold to have it be the PC's vault.
