What the? Moments in Oblivion #2

I had a good laugh today.
On the pirate ship int he Waterfront, if you try to get on it, the pirates attack you.
So I decided to try to yield to them, see if they would or not. One of them did, and before I could yield to the others, I see the Redguard attack the first mate.

One time, I was walking into Umbaccno Manor and one of his bodyguards walked past me and said "blug". The caption read "hello", but the sound he made was definitely "blug".

Another time, my brother used the duplication scrolls cheat and sent 1000 watermelons rolling down the hill to Bruma. I laughed so hard I nearly wet my pants. It basically destroyed the frame rate and we had to restart, but it was worth it.

Oh, and another time I was trying to save the Count of Kvatch with Martin, Kvatch guards, and Imperial Legion guys. I was fighting a bunch of scamps and I guess Martin hit one of the Imperial Legion guys by accident, because they all attacked him. But since he couldn't die, he ended up killing them instead. I was standing there like.. "O_o Martin...?"

Something similar happened the other day. A Mythic Dawn agent attacked me in the Imperial City Market District. The guards all attacked him at once. Somehow somebody his Hieronymous Lex with their sword. He goes ape s**t and starts fighting back. Pretty soon there's like a free for all among town guards. Obviously Lex being essential ended up mopping the floor with the other guys after a while. Then he calmly walks up to me and says "By the Nine Divines! You're the Divine Crusader!"

Last time I played, about an hour ago, I did the quest where the first small Oblivion gate appears outside of Bruma and captain Burd accompanies you. He was wearing his yellow Bruma chainmail all through the dungeon, but immediately after I grabbed the sigil stone and we teleported outside, he was wearing an upper class green outfit, but he still had his huge claymore strapped to his back. Apparently he changed clothes between dimensions.

I was doing the Great Gate quest for my sister, and while Burd died in his armour for me, he was still in his upper-class attire and lasted the whole fight, whereas dozens of fully armoured guards and Jauffre passed, he survived the whole thing, without losing half of his health. In a green brocade doublet. He must be the Chuck Norris of Oblivion.

Has other than me got help from Mythic Dawn agents? I was in Anvil at the harbour and defended a shop against thieves; they overwhelmed me so I run out on the street so I could use the bow on them. Some people helped me defeat the enemies, one of them was in a uniform Mythic Dawn armor, I talked to her and she was friendly enough but no special dialogue, followed her to the inn (sailor inn?) closest to the castle and she disappeared, probably took off her uniform or locked a door.

This probably happened because this was before I cleared out the Mythic Dawn base so the faction was neutral to me, but as a Anvil resident she was friendly to me and hostile to the thieves and she used the Mythic Dawn summoned equipment as it was her best attack.

Later I found two dead npc on the street in the harbour. As they was named npc in clothes I believed they was some poor townspeople who was killed because a monster who followed me back to the harbour or some random friendly fire so I used the console to resurrect them, they attacked me at once, calm or yeld did not work so I had to kill them. After some tries I understand they was the bandits I had killed, I sold their armor and game had put the clothes on them then reloading the cell.

Another of my WTF moments for Oblivion also involves Martin.
Whilst in Chorrol, with Martin in tow, out of boredom with the game, in god mode I started blasting the local yokel guards with damage armor and weapons spells. In the ensuing entertainment, I also specifically targeted Martin. After I had the majority of the town chasing me, I switched to the Failed Levitate spell from the Hilarity mod. When it was Martin's turn to take the unscheduled flight to death, I was expecting a popup similar to the 'You have killed a major character' one from Morrowind, and as in Morrowind, for me to be able to continue messing around. Instead, I learned how with the death of a major character, Oblivion is hard coded to boot you to the load screen with no choice in the matter. My immediate thought on being dumped without option to this menu was ' WTF is going on? Why can't i play MY game the way I want to?'
Due to that particular piece of code I now refuse to ever complete the MQ of Oblivion.

which leads me to a question i have, does anyone know any means or mods to 'circumvent' this? i mean, lets say i wanna kill Martin - I can set him to non-essential - but after I FINISH HIM.... the game will er, return me the favor. Is there anything to simply go on, even if the main quest become lost 4ever In Oblivionness?

No idea, you could just not look for him. I've failed the main quest when my summoned creatures killed Jauffre but it just takes you back to the load screen.

You can continously attack them as much as you want as target practice.

The old man asked me to hunt some slaughterfish in the lake near IC. When I completed the quest and collect the necklace(which can make you breath under water), I noticed there is a chest in his home, and the key can only be stolen.
I was just starting the game and have not got any high skills. so i waited outside until the midnight, lockpick his home, sneak inside and tried to steal the key while this old fellow was sleeping.
unfortunately i failed, he got up and started to attack me, i took him out, got the key and eventually got that chest open...
i roughly remembered there are 12 coins inside and i was like wtf..with guilty.
although afterwards the brotherhood came to find me...

Something awesome happened to me last night, not just one WTF, but a running series:

So at level 18, I've finally decided to start the Main Quest. Not to do it mind you, but just to get some Gates to open... my character is getting owned everywhere she goes, and needs better gear. So I go get Martin, to bring him to Weynon Priory.
He starts by attacking me when I get him in Kvatch. He shoots frost clouds at my character, which she uses to get some magicka back. She has only Fame, no bounty. WTF. Reload.

He doesn't attack me anymore. We take the cross-country route to the Priory. Attacked by three bears, two timber wolves and two mountain lions. We're battling on the side of a cliff. One of the bears hits Martin, I get the message that Martin is unconscious, at the same time I watch his body rocket off the side of the mountain, disappearing down into the valley below. I mean like literally shoot off the mountain.... WTF.

As I'm about to die, a frost bolt comes from the valley floor, and kills the lion in my face. WTF, but thanks.

Now Martin is nowhere to be found (unless you look at the valley floor far far below.) My character, born under the Atronach, has now run out of all restore health and magicka potions. I'm closer to the Chorrol Gate, than I am to Weynon Priory so I duck into town, phew. Then I turn around because I hear swords being unsheathed, and watch Martin own Eugal Belette, which I hope doesn't break anything later. WTF.

Stock up on ingredients, repair my gear, get to the Priory, blah blah blah, get outside, and Martin whacks me with a dagger. WTF. Reload.

Now Martin's cool again. Grrrrr, and yet, a hearty lol as well.

These things are just awesome. yes, someone may come up w/ some technical explanation of why the game mex scroo it up so much, yet u cannot but stand in awe at what appears to be a game with life of its own - specifically when just reloading gets a chap to do sth completely different.

Just watched Maurienne or whoever get bbq'd in the shivering Isles for Syl. Looted her body through the torture cage window, and found she had some 23,350-some clubs in her inventory. Stupid things are like 5lbs each. Carried them all to The Missing Pauldron. Currently selling them 600 at a time , their worth 2 gold. But 23000 clubs? Really??

New fresh one for me, I was trying to lock pick a door, I opened it but because I used automatic picking and used most of my lockpicks I reloaded.
And found me on the inside of the locked door. Yes it was the quicksave not the autosave the autosave should have a open door and I should have few lockpicks left.

Anybody run into this?
