I don't honestly like Morrowind very much, but Vanilla Oblivion is just so broken as to be nearly unplayable due to the atrocious level scaling and the lack of magic keeping up with enemies.

With mods Oblivion would be me favorite right now, but nothing incredibly substantial is out for Skyrim yet. And I'm just not really a big fan of Morrowind. I didn't play it that much though, might give it another try.

I order mine based on the number of hours I spent in each game.

1. Daggerfall

2. Oblivion

3. Morrowind

4. Skyrim

Obviously, Skyrim just came out but I have already logged 100+ hours in the game easily, maybe even 200 hours and based on how little of the game I have actually explored so far, I can tell you with near certainty that it will eclipse them all in the coming years. Truly, one of the best games I have ever played on the PC platform.

Edit: I see that people are posting the order played, so I will post mine as well. I played all the game in the order in which they were released.

Morrowind wins for best ES game so far for me. Though if i had the PC version of skyrim (with a pc to run it properly) id tweak it to be super badass and compete with morrowind.

Played them in order, so Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim while I'd rate them the reverse way, I think the games have been improving steadily with Skyrim being the best so far, Oblivion second and Morrowind last.

Oblivion (about 100 hours, quickly resorted to mods to fix it, but only partly successful)

In the last list, from the forum comments, it sounds like Skyrim would fall somewhere above or below DF or OB, but I can't play it due to the Steam DRM.

I love all the games.but if i must choose whats best

dont get me wrong i loved oblivion,and arena is the first game! some series have to get a start ^^ but thats what i think is best

Didn't count Redguard in the order of preference because it's an entirely different game, almost a different genre I'd say. But still a good game in my book.

To give you an idea of what that means, Morrowind and Skyrim are my two favourite games of all time, I enjoyed Daggerfall, I dislike Oblivion and can't get into Arena.

Played Morrowind a fair bit, but nowhere near all the way through (was too young to really get into it and it hasn't aged well enough for me to ever go back and try again for an extended period of time).

Got Oblivion and Skyrim as soon as they came out.

Order of Preference:

Skyrim
Oblivion
Morrowind

I see flaws and strengths with each of them. I miss some things from Oblivion, but overall I think each game is getting better. If Fallout 3 was in the list, I'd place it between Skyrim and Oblivion.

Yes, I've completed Skyrim once already.

TES as a whole is my favourite game series and while i do prefer certain titles over others for various reasons.. i have enjoyed them all very much.

My opinion of Skyrim might rise as i play more. (79 hours played)
