Preference:
1. Skyrim
2. Morrowind
3. Oblivion
4. Daggerfall
wow, my order
and preferences respectively.
Oblivion would come out as a more, overall, enjoyable experience for me than Morrowind but...the level scaling completely destroys any aspect of that game's satisfaction.
Skyrim is literally what I consider the
quintessential Elder Scrolls game. It really feels like Bethesda has finally accomplished what they set out to do when they first started work on Daggerfall. Morrowind was marred by technological limitations, unimaginative level design (go to this camp and be this Nerevarine...now do the same thing with minor variation FOUR MORE TIMES), and lack of enemy diversity. there were literally times I sat there bewildered at some of the odd, almost [censored], quest branches ("Yes...I recognize you as Nerevarine but as you know I need a wife so can you go get me one? Please and thank you.").
so overall it comes down to which one I had the most
fun with and the answer is obvious, imho.
