What is the order you've played TES games in, and your order : The Elder Scrolls Series Discussion

Just trying to see how Skyrim fits in and how the order of games affects it.

For me:

Played Daggerfall -> Morrowind -> Oblivion -> Arena (haven't gotten Skyrim yet)

Preference: Morrowind > Daggerfall > Oblivion (didn't play Arena long enough to judge it)

I bought the first three TES titles on or near release, so follow the obvious order:

1st - Arena
2nd - Daggerfall
3rd - Morrowind
4th - Oblivion

Oblivion was not acquired until 2009. My then-computer would not run it at release, and in any case I was heavily committed to an MMO at the time.

I have not yet purchased Skyrim.

I will not rank the games, except to say that Oblivion is my favorite. Every TES title has its strengths and weaknesses. The ideal TES title (based on current hardware and coding limitations) would contain elements from all four, and probably Skyrim too.

I've played a VERY small bit of Daggerfall, a very big chunk of Morrowind - (MQ + BM + TRIBUNAL) - I finished the MQs for each but there is SO much left undone that I can't say I have finished it, and now I'm on Oblivion - which is awesome and is actually exersizing my long-dormant creative writing skills.
Which is nice.

Note that Skyrim might rise in my estimation a year or more down the road when modders use the CS (finally supposed to be out in 1-2 months) to create elaborate quest systems and deal with most of the major game issues: the UI, the inability to level when you want, the lack of spellmaking, etc.

Played morrowind first, then oblivion, then skyrim. Skyrim is my favorite and I like morrowind and oblivion pretty much the same.

Bought Daggerfall but it wouldn't run, so I shelved and lost it.

Bought Morrowind at release.
Bought Oblivion at release.
Bought Skryrim at release.

If I had to chose, I couldn't. I like the game style of Morrowind the best, the framework of the game so to speak. I like the quality of the various questlines in Oblivion better than Skyrim and Morrowind.

But Skyrim has something special to it. i can't really put my finger on it, but if it was possible to combine the ruleset of Morrowind and the quality of the questlines of Oblivion into Skyrim.....headesploddy.

Skyrim: 11/11/11

Both on PS3/vanilla games. I prefer Skyrim at the moment, simply because it's a brand-new game, but I still will go back to Cyrodiil on occasion.
