What's the perfect DT bleedthrough?

Post » Mon Aug 15, 2011 4:48 am

I've had Project Nevada for a while, and I love it's customization. Lately I've been tinkering with it's Damage Threshold modifiers. Vanilla is 20%, but I've been trying out 10%. Fights against regular people or animals is fairly straightforward, but going up against enemies like Legion Assassins at lower levels is quite hard, so I usually run away.(good thing?) I noticed it helps people like the BoS a lot, to counter their flimsy health. However, what bleedthrough % do you guys think is the perfect one for you? I'm still experimenting and really appreciate some advice!

I know you are looking for input from guys/gals on the PC, and I wish I could mod the xbox, but I don't get the whole bleedthrough thing to start with. It makes no sense to me, how someone wearing Heavy Armor, and has a DT of 30, can still take damage from a BB Gun.

If I could mod, my perfect bleedthrough would be zero. Across the board.

I self edited the variable (with just a simple .esp) down to I think 5% or 2.5% .....makes it so much better....when you have armoed enemies they really feel armored then.

If you could someone make the bleedthrough different depending on armor that be great
20% for Light Armor
15% for Medium
10% for Heavy Armor.

Vukodlak, that is an interesting idea! I hope somebody could look into that!

SENIOR CINCO:I'm nervous about making it 0%, because that would make life miserable for lower level/poorer Couriers.

Good idea, I wonder if it can be done easily. The issue I have with simply getting rid of bleedthrough is that some enemies, like Radscorpions, don't take any damage with your shotgun when they really should. Same with armors that have high DT but you are shooting in exposed areas.

I use %1. Makes radscorpions a nightmare early game.

That's why "You Gotta Shoot'em in the Head". I don't agree with having armor and no helm, yet getting shot in the head carries the same DT. If you shoot a Rad Scorp in the face, it should completely ignore DT, all together. Then again, that's why a head shot doubles the damage, to help compensate for that.

i use 10 or 15% myself. basically it makes AP ammo very very valuable. in fact i just disassemble all my regular ammo and make AP ammo out of it. if your wearing power armor then you should feel like your wearing power armor.

one other benefit is that i play on very hard and if i lower the bleedthrough it makes companions less effective so i can walk around with 2 or 3 of them and it doesnt completely blow the balance of the game.

since we are on the subject, whats a good % where u and the enemies only take like 2 hits to die? there ws a mod for FO3 that had an awesome bleedthru, to where u could be lvl 30 and a grp of 4 raiders still had a good chance to end ya, been trying to get that in this game.

Ok good to know about the mod. Although that does nothing for me. FYI a Rad Scorp has no weak point. :whistling:

It's a prt of the Project Nevada mod the OP mentioned. The Vault seems to agree with no weakspot, i've once again been misled by the internet :swear: But it'll be easier to aim at them from now on :hehe:

I think the logic of bleed through is that concussive force is transfererd through the armor even if it doesn't penetrate so a softer light armor would allow more concussive force to pass through. That being the case I'd say 30% for Light, 20% for Medium and 10% for Heavy.

I would say though that there should be a chance for critical hits to ignore DT all together, the logic being that they slip through a gap in the plates of the armor.
