its completely true, if he leveled up differently he wouldn't be having a problem right now. its not his fault, its a fault of the game, but that does not make it any less true.

Not really. And you have gone from 'leveling up correctly' to 'leveling up differently', by the way, which is a completely different argument

ok, he leveled up wrong, happy now?

Nah, you're wrong.
They're supposed to be very hard at that level.

A single snowy sabre cat isn't a "mob".

Actually, in gaming terms, a "mob" is anything that is an enemy of some sort-- singular or plural. People need to stop being "debbie downers" and learn that no amount of negativity on forums is needed.

On the actual topic of the post, however, you are probably getting owned due to the fact of poor planning. I play on master difficulty and strategize fairly close to every second i play the game. It is a difficult game, to some, and to the some that it is difficult, it requires actual intensive play. Hit the sabre cat a few times, then pause and heal with potions, rinse repeat. If that doesnt work, throw a shout in there a few times. when the cat goes to strike, back away, or block. The game is not to hard nor is it too easy; Regardless, if it is, change the difficulty. Don't worry about the label of difficulty, worry about how difficult it actually is.

OP, those cats are the strongest and thoughest animal(s) in the game. So, keep trying, you'll get them eventually.

Try keeping an eye on your health, when needed hit TAB, items, potions and drink health potions. While you do that, you can see your health bar go back up and it takes effect as soon as you go back into the game mode.

Good luck.

As said earlier, make sure to specialize in a form of offense be it 2handers, 1handers, archery, or destruction. If you do not put perks into your forms of attack it will hurt you because combat will become attrition.

In fact what's the point of anything in this? Some help please!

I'm a level 15 Imperial. I'm wearing heavy armor. My heavy armor skill is 40. Block is 27. One handed is 37. Two handed is 29. Restoration 34. Destruction 31. Conjuration 26.

Magicka 140
Health 150
Stamina 150

I have steel armor on. Steel cuffed boots. A steel helmet. Ironhand gauntlets. An armor rating of 100. Using some magic and a fine orcish war axe or an orcish greatsword. Can do 25 damage with the orcish greatsword. 16 damage with the axe.

Am I supposed to be getting owned by just a snowy sabre cat in just a few hits? And am I supposed to be doing so little damage to it when I hit it? All I'm trying to do is get to the Pride of Tel Vos to do the Find the Helm of Winterhold quest that I got from the mages guild near the start really.

Playing on normal difficulty....

What am I missing here?

My opinion? You 've spreaded your points in a lot of unnecessary skills, if you go one handed/shiled warrior, you shouldn't waste points in magic (maybe a bit in Restorattion and Enchantement but that's about it). You should, in the beginning, focus in only 2 skills, one offensive and one defensive, after that, pump smithing and eventually enchanting.

Well, you seem to be doing a jack of all trades character based on your stats you gave, which means you are a weaker version of everything. Secondly, this isn't a game where you just stand and take hits. Even warriors in full plate should attempt to get out of the way of hits.

The biggest issue here as I see it is skilling up in both one handed/shield and 2 handed. They are totally incompatible types of combat that function the same way. Best to focus one and perk accordingly.

This. If you havent leveled up in combat/ armor skills, then obviously you are going to get your butt kicked when it comes to combat/ armor skills being used. As you level up more in those skills, and get perks, you will find it easier to defeat enemies. This is pretty common sense. At level 15, I was dying with 2-3 hits from cave bears, and I needed about 10 hits to just get them down halfway. Once I started leveling up my 2h combat and L. Armor, I finally wasnt scared to face them anymore. I find it better than how Oblivion was when all enemies were basically 2 hit kills and they needed 10 hits to kill you NO MATTER WHAT level you were.

What you do when you get pwned like that is reload and try a different tactic. That usually works for me.

I summon a helper or instead of using my melee weapon I use destruction spells or a bow. Also health potions really help too!

Armour rating 100 isn't that good.

It's because you've got crappy armor rating and attack. You need to upgrade your character and equipment!!

I could kill alduin in 5 hits without any cheating at level 50

...well not crappy. Tricky. You need to concentrate on your path. Create many characters with different goals in mind. It has been said many times here that "perks are your friends"...

its something to avoid at all costs when u are low level

and steel armor at 15 LOL u should get owned, i already have steel plate on my level 12 nord AND 200 health

here is an extra hint don't let it hit u too much as well try to strafe and hit it with fast blows, DON"T get hit by its power attack AND use potions.

nope because if he leveled up correctly he would have leveled up differently than he did.

Now you have gone from "leveled wrong' to 'level differently' back to 'leveled wrong' by saying he's done it incorrectly. Leveling adds magicka, health or stamina. You're talking about choosing perks, and even so, he may have chosen a play style that's hard for the perks he chose, but your premise is still that the leveling system is to blame for his problems, and it's not. You use 'leveling' interchangeably to mean selecting perks, the act of increasing level, and level scaling enemies, to fit your arguments as needed, and that's fine I guess but the fact that he leveled up is not the issue here

Snowy Sabre cats are like the Cougars in RDR.. They can be fought... but will eat you up.. if you're not leveled enough or don't strategize.

On lower levels.. stack up on potions, strategize. If you play as warrior use block and time your attack well. If you are a mage or thief. Take a companion with you.. Don't be afraid to run away from it. Conjure a low level thrall like a familiar.. Again stack up on potions.. (Area's are now leveled unlike Oblivion) If you have a horse... a viable option might be to use your horse sprint option and try to outrun it... iow ignore the possible fight..

I really don't get how your damage is so low. I'm level 10, and my orcish greatsword(fine) does like 64 damage per hit. You really should focus on one of the two, one handed or two handed. Focusing on both ends up with you much weaker than you would be otherwise, y'know?
