So, what's the purpose of food in Skyrim?

I think regen health doesn't help the food usage either. Having a food bar or something like NV hardcoe mode, would be more effective with the use of Food. I wish someone would make a mod to remove H.Regen.

Yep... Id say this was their worst design choice. Not sure how you justify something like that in TES. And I can undertsand slowly getting better but I feel like Wolverine mid battle

Cheap healing, I cram down like 5 bowls of soup at once sometimes when I want to save potions. Sure, they are a little on the heavy side considering how many you have to use to be effective, but they are much cheaper than potions. On my new character I usually carry some around, this guy uses light armor so his weight is lower. And if I need to escape with some loot, I have no problem eating all my extra food since they are so easily replaced and not worth as much as potions.

That's basically what I use the food for. If I need healing I'll chow down on all the food in my inventory first before using potions. And like you said, it's easy to replace food because it's so abundant in the game and so there's no real worry about the weight because you can always just eat or drop any excess amounts of food at any given time.

It would've been roleplaying if you could see your character interact with the food. Like drinking and eating.

Glad they still put foods and other stuffs in the game, some players feel that needed to be roleplay themselves. Guess some players dont understand what roleplaying is, too many players from WoW and other games. Noticed you get certain percentage when you sleep, should be more than one hour though. For foods and drinks, have boost on stamina bonuses and such as well.

Looks like a leftover thing from Bethesda trying to add a "hardcoe" mode....and failing.

Perfect answer.
