What is the real six of the Vault Dweller, Choosen One, Lone

Post » Tue Dec 06, 2011 4:42 am

Game developers, computer games and those playing them are all very highly male orientated, so the main character that you will be playing will almost certainly be male. And with that logic, they are all male, twisted and sixist as that may be, smile.

A game's introduction "You are a girl that seeks to save ......"

What! what! ......

You'd send out Spec. Ops. dressed like that? I don't think zerglings will care less, and it'd just distract the male Ghosts from doing their duty.

I always considered that Albert is the canon protagonist for Fallout. Don't know why though

Doesnt mattter if the time line isnt offical or not Hes a guy theres so much to prove this.

Like what, exactly? Sure, the video looks like a male, but it is covered enough that it could be a female as well. Just because males have dialogues unique to their gender (so do females) does not make either one canon.

I would never be able to play Starcraft:Ghost had it been made. I mean, seriously, what's up with the http://wallhits.com/data/media/5/starcraft_ghost_03_1600x1200.jpg

It is great isn't it?

All of them are male except for maybe the Chosen One. The Vault Dweller is 100% male, Chosen One I have no idea, the Lone Wanderer makes more sense as a male do to Amata, with the implied crush the Lone Wanderer has on her. The Courier is most likely male do to the extra dialog from the lady killer perk, plus it seems to make more sense with where the story is going with him.

Based on what? Albert is no more canon than any other male Vault Dweller that stopped the Master.

Thats sound, sixist, yeah....

Many games that have female main characters just feel like they are there to be sixy. Often in some really tight outfit, with a curvy body, big boobs and a beautiful face. And I can't play games with girls like that. I like Zoey from L4D and Faith from Mirror's Edge, girls with not-so-curvy bodies, smaller boobs, and baggy clothes. :)

I would never be able to play Starcraft:Ghost had it been made. I mean, seriously, what's up with the main character's ass?

I dont see the problem here of Female characters being sixy, the Male characters are also sixy

Snake, for example he is sixy, I mean, look his outfit
And Gordon Freeman with their glasses
Well, I dont have Western male character examples, most of the are from Japanese games (where most of them looks too nice. both male and female)

For Fallout, the Vault Dwellers Memoirs.

For Fallout 2, Bishop is still in power, and he has a daughter. (Only the male Chosen one impregnate Mrs. Bishop, obviously.)

Fallout 3, Lone Wanderer is said to be a man by some devs after hearing "Him" when refering to the Lone Wanderer.

New Vegas, The Courier is just going to be male, canonocity is sixist.

1:Yeah 100% canon. He's likely Albert Cole too.
2:No, not 100% canon and a vague reference that could be refering to everyone.
3:Yeah probably. This is Bethesda we're talking about.
NV:Because of the silly dialogue with the Lonesome Drifter I'd say male if only to make that sillyness canon.

I always thought of the Chosen One as female, imo if only to contrast the VD. But either way, there is no direct reference that the Chosen One is male. It's likely, sure, but not official.
And the Warrior? Probably the black guy the screen zooms in on first.

Sure female characters in games can be sixy. I find Zoey in L4D sixy for example, but Valve hasn't made her a typical action photo model, with big boobs and a suit so tight that it chafe. It's also very stereotypical to put girls in a sixy role, and men in a muscular heroic role, and I like neither. I don't like the sixual objectification :P It's a reason why I haven't ever touched Mass Effect 1 or 2 - beside it being a high-tech sci-fi game (I like dirty ones like SC1 and Fallout) the commercials and covers for both games involve some typical heroic muscular male character and some female character in the background with a really slimmed outfit. I can't take games like that seriously, if it's not for actually making fun of these types of characters :P Like in L4D how Francis is some big, muscular guy, but he's pretty stupid aswell.

And yeah, I can think men and women in video games (and real life of course, duh) are sixy, but that's not why I play games and it should not be the first thing I think of when I see the game cover or the character in-game. The engine Fallout is on now is kinda good. I mean, you can't really make sixy faces in the face gen, and the body models are pretty average. :)

He's likely Albert Cole too.

Again... based on what? All I've ever seen is fans over anolyzing a picture where the Vault Dweller's face is covered with shadows; this doesn't scream that the character is Albert to me, it screams that the developers don't want people thinking that he's anyone in particular. If he was actually Albert in the canon we'd have been told this by now.

Female characters can also tell Amata they dream about her, though she finds it gross.
Doesn't stop the LW from having a crush on her.

When I look at female characters in videogames I start to wonder: what American companies (besides Valve) (and Bethesda but for completely other reasons  ) designs non-sixy female characters?
Mirror's Edge had Faith but was made in Sweden and The Longest Journey had April and Zoe but was made in Norway. I can't think of any other right now.

I'm going to base this one bit on that of which shall not be spoken of, his face matches up with Alberts in the concept art.

I said likely, he doesn't have to be Albert and it was never confirmed by canon. The canon Vault Dweller sure did have the same hairstyle, but that doesn't mean much considering the whole 50's thing. I just felt that he was likely Albert Cole, as Max Stone doesn't look like him and the memoirs reflect a diplomatic Vault Dweller.

I know you said likely, but other people are acting like Albert Cole being the Vault Dweller is canon, and I haven't seen any official source state this; I just wanted someone to back up that claim. The reason I singled you out is because you had the misfortune of being the next guy to post something similar. :P

Regardless I don't see the resemblance in that picture beyond the dark hair (though I'm not sure how you can see any resemblance to anyone considering that most of his face is obscured), and considering that the Vault Dweller always has dark brown hair, and dark hair is hardly a rare let alone unique trait...
