What is the Scariest Thing you have seen/ heard of in Oblivi

Post » Fri Dec 02, 2011 7:46 am

Zombies, ethereal undead, will-o-the-wisps when they're moving, orc vampires, followers that stand right behind me and surprise me when I turn around, flesh atronachs and those crystal knight thingies (because of their creepy cries).

what scares me most is simply wandering around the overworld ruins at nighttime. IE around forts but not inside them.

It can be very atmospheric if there is fog. Also without the sweet mellow music playing which I turn down, there is only the sound of wind.

An empty dungeon is more scarier than a populated one imo.

I hope in TESV some dungeons are left completely uninhabitied by creatures/bandits... being alone in a dungeon feels like your being watched, the atmosphere alone is enough.

Its the first time I read this sort of comment, and how true this is... Often this is the case of some Ayleid Temple that I do not know if it is too small or what. You end up clearing it entirely but then some wall conceals a secret passage connecting to another area so you expect things. And this is really scary.

There's one ayleid ruin, I don't remember which...

My Conjurer was in there recently; crept through the whole place. Nothing, nobody. Just an eerie silence. Got to the last room, still nobody. Looted the chest, and turned around...

And a dread zombie was standing in the doorway. She had to fight her way out.

There should be more of those. :)

I like that one, too. The zombies are levelled, so I don't recall when they become the Dread variety, but they all appear only after you pick up the loot.

To me, the most scary thing was the quest done for the Countess of Bruma. The eerie dungeons and fort ruins, and the very, very eerie ghost story involved. I remember getting chill all over while playing through this quest. Never did the quest again after that first time.

I find this to be one of the best quests in the game, no matter your level.

The lack of cowbell makes me uncomfortable. I need the clanging to echo into my soul! Add some cowbell sounds, at least in pastures!

EDIT: When playing on the hardest difficulty I am scared every time I enter a dungeon.

The thing that has ALWAYS scared me is when I'm traveling through the forest and the "enemy near by" music starts playing. It just freaks me out, it's too sudden.
Next thing I know, I have my weapon wielded and I'm frantically looking around.

Anyone rememver Voneus from Kvatch? I'll share with you what happened when I first played the MQ.

Well, what happened was that I entered the first Oblivion gate, rescued him and told him to come with me. We were close to the bridge with the falling rocks when he ran to fight a scamp. When I ran to him, he was facing me with an angry face, but the lighting and redness of the area made it look very demonic indeed. My heart froze. Had he been possessed by something? Taking no chances, I took my sword out and slew him.

I got invited to the Dark Brotherhood because of that, but Voneus seriously scared me with that look!

Right now after having played the game so much, the only thing that is scary is when something unexpected happens.

For example, I went into a cave that I knew had Goblins in it. I've been there many, many times before. But this time as soon as I walked in the door there was a huge Ogre staring me in the face! I guess the Ogre chased some Goblins in there, but since it was so unexpected I kind of jump for an instant.

Now I still think there are some creepy things in the game, but unless something is very out of place like that nothing scares me in the game.

The Garridan's Tears quest for S'Drassa. When I finally got to the spot where the tears were, I spent forever looking for them, I was afraid that I was going to die from the cold damage.

Oh and also the first time I entered an Oblivion Gate, gore over-kill. :obliviongate:

Spoiler
That quest where you are on the island where the people pay to hunt you. It was easy enough, and at first I didn't think much of it, but later I realized how creepy that was. Who the hell would pay money for a chance to kill innocent people?

Whoa, wait a minute. What quest is that?!

The night mothers head creeps me out too,and when your sneaking in somones house and they run up to you really fast and say get out !!! makes me jump, and last but not least !!!! i think its when you paralyze a guard when he's on his horse? or i think it is when you knock a guard unconcious and keep tapping the talk button you will be in speech with an invisible guy while he is still dead on the floor, and he will be attacking you completeley invisible LOL. anyway ther yah go , i am startled easily too :)

Avoiding Glarthir for as long as possible is the scariest thing in the game,I think i developed a phobia of him."Hey,you there"...as soon as you hear that, run, and he follows everywhere.I didn't realise he'd follow you into the Guilds and outside the city walls though.Running into buildings, breathing a sigh of relief, turning around and there he is,staring at you with his demented face. When he followed me outside I tested how far away from Skingrad I could take him,so I lured him out past the vineyards,a good bit down the road and straight into a bandit.A Redgaurd bandit with a warhammer.Nice one I thought, this'll get rid of this freak.Glarthir, unarmed, killed him, turned around and walked back to the city.Ignoring me when I tried to talk to him.

walking through waste deep water in random cave. Battle music comes on, "oh it's just a mudcrab." Slay mudcrab, battle music continues, "what?" Get out of water on to dry land, hear troll moaning, turn around to face a troll no less than 3 feet away.

Well, the ones I can remember now are....

Spoiler
There is this quest with a real big cavern near Bravil, and that cavern connects to the lake. So, at one point you have to dive down the flooded cavern until you reach the bottom of the lake. Scariest moment of the whole game, there's a freaking HUGE fish right in the middle, plus the narrow vision (and completely dark without light power) is claustrophilic!

And the first times checking out those tomb dungeons filled with skeletons and mist were tense. And the music added to the tension.

For me it's probably wandering through a cave with Starlight on, and the brightness down so I NEED some form of light. The next thing I know, there's a zombie 5feet in front of my face.
I jumped a good'un.
