What is the Scariest Thing you have seen/ heard of in Oblivi

Post » Fri Dec 02, 2011 2:18 am

Now I know many have probably already made this thread, and I dont care so dont troll and post links to other forums. Anyways, I have traveled many paths in Oblivion and encountered some strange things and scary things. This is a thread for you to post the scariest place, people, thing you have ever encountered in Oblivion. I will start... Very Honestly when i was new to the game, the beggining Sewers was the scariest part I could never find my way around, even though the obvious route. Ok now it is your turn...

Ok so far through your awesome posts I have. Pale Pass, I totally agree with you. I had the Cowl of Nocturnal the second go through so i could see everything. But my first runthru, I didnt know what I could possibly see, it was a whole new world. In general all over Oblivion there are always those random critters triggering battle music when they come out of no where. Also in general are most all of the Dungeons and Ruins they always contain random leveled items and monsters there to scare the crap out of you. Most all of The Undead are scary expecially when creeping around a cave and spotting one headed right for you. Also Breaking and Entering can be quite scary expecially if the owners are skilled warriors or mages.

If you have anymore please dont be afraid to post, I love hearing these stories!

Mudcrabs.. I hope I do not have to run into those things again.
-Nasty things.
I agree.
-Well being seeing you.
Good bye.

Actually nothing except something happening in a person's basemant then going down in said person's basemant and seeing skeletons and such. I murdered the guy to find he was in the mythic dawn.

The first time in Pale Pass. The snow makes it hard to see where the path goes, and there are big things stomping around, somewhere behind those rocks...

Spoiler
That quest where you are on the island where the people pay to hunt you. It was easy enough, and at first I didn't think much of it, but later I realized how creepy that was. Who the hell would pay money for a chance to kill innocent people?

When I talk to Skjorta in Nord Winds, Olfand looks over at me in a real creepy way. His eyes are way too dark, and he's a bit weird looking anyway. Being ganged up on by three Liches in a fort ain't that great either.

Nothing really scares me in Oblivion, but sadly I get startled very easily.

So I was exploring an ayleid ruin on my Nord, Rikard Black-Blood. I had just got done looting a chest and turned around to head out. But when I turned around just inches from my face was a troll! To make it worse, every time after that that I turned around I would be face to face with another troll. I got startled so many damn times in that place. But it was worth it to get enchanted greaves of Spell Absorption 20pts.

Mine is when Im running around the forest, picking flowers, then suddenly. Battle Music! Pull out my bow, and get ready for a fight. Start looking around for my enemy. Nothing. Cant see a thing. Turn around and BAM! Mountain Lion fight in front of my face.

the first ayleid ruin i went through--windir i believe--had me pausing every minute or so. i used to avoid the undead like the plague for the first few levels because of that one.

I forget what the quest is called, but the fighters guild quest where you take all the drugs and such, and accidentally kill all the innocent.
When I found all the dead innocents, for some reason they were all floating in a group together, with no eyes, and no clipping through everything in the ground.
I'm getting goosebumps just from typing this lol.

This particular encounter scared the snot out of me the first time I went through it:

Elberond had just arrived in Cyrodiil, having come from Valenwood. Wanting to get the lay of the land, he climbed to Dive Rock. While walking towards the cliff, he heard what sounded like a troll. It can't be a troll, he thought. Trolls didn't live in that kind of climate. He dismissed it as a trick of the wind. But he heard it again moments later, much closer this time. Uneasy, he withdrew his bow and knocked an arrow poisoned with Paralysis. Quickly, he scanned the area. He saw nothing but a faint shimmer. Curious, he stared hard at the shimmer. It moved suddenly. By the Nine, that thing is fast!, he thought. With no time to fire his arrow, he rolled to the side. Even as he did so, the thing got in a swipe. A glancing blow, but quite damaging nonetheless. What manner of Demon is this?, he thought as he was sent stumbling towards the cliff. With his back to the edge, he prepared to make his final stand against this unknown Horror. It charged at him. He waited until it almost upon him once more and fired his paralyzing arrow. It struck the beast and Elberond watched in satisfaction as it's momentum carried it over the edge.

I second this. Almost soiled myself during this one.

So far, nothing has scared me more than my Breton Healer creeping through a cave with the basic Light spell. Suddenly a Zombie comes running out of the darkness about 10ft in front of her face. Needless to say we both panicked, luckily her urge to cast Summon Scamp overcame my urge to run away.

Their size is good, makes them easy to spot and easy to hit :)

Nothing has really scared me in Oblivion. I came directly from Doom 3 so Oblivion was in every aspect a stroll in the park with a gentle breeze through my hair :)
Although I find the zombies to be disgusting :yucky:

Honestly the scariest thing I've ever seen, was being stuck inside a huge part of an Ayleid Ruin, and watching 6 full-on liches (not the nethers) summon 4 Clannfear and two Skeleton Champions. I really appreciated the full power of Sheogorath's Staff that day.

Zombies... They scare the crap out of me every single time.

And as far as mods go, the whole time I was playing Dungeons of Ivellon I was jumping and whining about how scary it is to anyone who would listen. :P Freakiest. Ever.

Stealing stuff in skingrad, I went to somewhat of a necromacers house, only to be finding a shiny fork, and the owner paralyzing me, and a lich attacking me in the back. Freaked me out.

Well reminded - has something to do with someone's husband in debt.... Very creepy indeed, one of the good quests in O.

Also, Pale Pass was well designed, the different stages you underwent to conclude the quest... A good moment.

The first big scare I got thoguh was right in the beginning, when I left the seweres and went to check the 'nice temple ruins' across the lake. Then I got the brilliant idea to talk to 'the nice temple members' outside AND took refuge inside 'the temple' (long story short, I ended up venturing too much down the ruins and got SKELLIED at some point).

But I think http://il.youtube.com/watch?v=uwpP32NH9Ic&feature=related takes the cake (when it first happens, at least). Frightening....
