What is the second Morrowind CD for?

Post » Sun Nov 22, 2009 9:21 pm

This is how long it's been since I last made something with the construction set: I cannot remember what the second CD is for--I bought the game when it first came out, so I have a 2-disc set. The construction set installs when installing the game off the first CD, but the second CD appears to contain only the construction set. So why are there two discs? Please remind me....

So how do you install it? I tried before, accidentally (didn't realize the Construction Set had already been installed), and got an error message (repair/replace/yada yada yada)....

My Construction Set is always installed with Morrorwind disk 1. When I run the CS it looks for it's disk files first then tells me it will use the ones on the hard drive. Some operations need the CS disk though I haven't done anything in recent memory like that and use the CS off my hard drive every day. There are all the original files on the disk so you can copy and edit them. I love that.

As Mollyi says, that disc contains Construction Set program (so since you can for example uninstall CS but not Morrowind, with this CD you can install CS anew). It also contains absolutely all the files used in Morrowind, including some meshes/textures/etc that are not present even in the original games and is mostly used for taking out the original content for editing it. So basically it has no use aside from being a modder's morrowind cd :D

Correction: They are supplied with the original game. All of the texture and mesh files are in .bsa files. When I had lost my CS disc, I had started unpacking the BSAs instead, but not to my default install dir.

The CS disc is just convenient in that they are all already unpacked and in the right directory structure.
