What on earth happened to my map?

Right before this happened I had

Render Creation Error ""

I am confused, help or insight is appreciated.

Also, I just noticed, only my most recent save is effected by this.
On a save prior to my rescue of the girl kidnapped by the Ashlanders from the Imperial Legion quest, the map is fine.
Should I just delete the save and continue with the prior? My most recently D/L mod was "Death's Doorstep" if that is of any consequence.

My map has looked like that before, but only if I checked the Tamriel Compatibility map patch in MCP and then de-selected it in the middle of a game. That patch changes the scale and shape of the map to accommodate TR, but if you don't have TR or try to switch mid-game, it will mess up the map and I've never been able to find a way to fix it.

Obviously, if you aren't running MCP or didn't select that patch, then this isn't your issue, but I believe the upshot is the same. Your map may not be fixable until you start a new game or revert to a save before the corruption, as you suggested.

If I remember correctly, it's a feature of Wrye Mash.
When you click the Update Map button on your savegame the program generates a grid on the map too.
To disable it right click on the column header context menu, and uncheck World Map Gridlines, and then re-click on Update Map.
The grid will be there until you re-visit the cells.
I'm not 100% sure of this, because I don't use that feature since 1 or 2 years ago

I have an ATI Radeon 9550

I have MCP, and I did select the patch when I installed it, but I haven't touched it since. I do not have TR yet, so maybe that is the problem.

It doesn't mater if you have TR or not.

The only time I have seen this happens is when you activate or deactivate the "Extend Map" feature with the MCP mid-game.

Did you recently update your MCP to the new 2.0 version? That might be the problem, since it would have to re-apply the map patch again.

Unfortunately there is no fix. The 'Update Map' function of Wrye Mash doesn't help.
The grid thing, King already explained.

Had this happen to me just yesterday, I clicked on "update map" by mistake and wasn't able to understand how to remove that grid...

Thank you very much! :)

Nope, installed 2.0 fresh on the computer.

I decided to svck it up and just restart from a previous save. Thanks for the help everyone.
Edit: KINGPIX was correct in that it removes the grid. However I'm a low level and in-capable of visiting the effected cells for a while, and I'd rather not have to pull up a mess of a world map until I'm able to do so.

Funny you should post here Pluto, I was just looking for your mod but had forgotten the name of it. Cheers.

On a side-note, when I go to download Tamriel Rebuilt:Map 1, on planetelderscrolls, in the info it says it's outdated and to d/l from the TR teams portfolio, so I went to their site, and was re-directed to Map 2...do I only need Map 2, or what? Forgive my ignorance but I'm confused.

The most recent version of Map 1 is included with the Map 2 download, so you only need to download Map 2 :)
