What's the toughest decision you've ever had to make in Morr

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 3:10 pm

For me it was whether to kill divayth fyr for his armor or not.I was a newbie back then, but i somehow knew that armor had value,so i could sell it or wear it myself. On the other hand,i liked him a bit and i knew he was important for the MQ,so i decided not to kill him.And thank god i did,he would have obliterated me back then:p

That was your toughest decision? Whether to kill a friendly NPC for his armor? Wow.

My toughest decision was when Kaye got angry at my lawful Khajiit for not breaking into that obnoxious elf's home to search for some bowl. Do'Zarg got severely disillusioned regarding the Imperial Cult and nearly started taking Moon Sugar again. Fortunately, Synnolian Tunifus treated my Khajiit a lot better and actually takes all credit for keeping him in the faction.

Whether to go get rid of the Ilunibi Sixth House cultists. Given that you could ask NPCs around about corprus prior to that, it woudn't have been hard to tell that going in there would be dangerous for your health. This was on my second play-through. It was an in-character decision I had to make. Killed them for the Emperor anyway.

By far the toughest decision I've had to make (repeatedly) in Morrowind was whether to shut the game down and catch a few solid hours of sleep before work in the morning, or else finish what I was doing and enjoying, then go in to work on only 2-3 hours of shuteye or none at all. Some days, it goes one way, some the other.

 Awesome. I'd imagine we've all been there a few times.

As for me, in addition to what was mentioned above, an ongoing tough decision I have is to wear a full set of Glass or a full set of Royal Guard armor. Weighing the obvious appearance, weight, and protection differences is so tough, I don't know what to do.

What I mean to say is that Morrowind is a game of decisions, one might not be harder than another, but it's so cool to see where your character ends up and realize that it was the result of many "tough" decisions along the way.

deciding what to do... what race, class, type of character.

Do I do the quests or just wander..

So many options, the hard part is deciding what to do

Whether to play one of the greatest games of all time, or actually do something productive for the next six weeks.

It's a difficult decision, and it takes so long for me to decide that I don't have time for either.

Wheather or not I should try playing a game without using Trainers.

That was 7 years ago....I haven't used a trainer since.

Yup. Out of character, quitting the game in time is always the hardest decision. :D

In-character, I think my Temple Patriarch Elvar Saryoni's decision not to serve Almalexia anymore has been the toughest. I think one's world would crumble if he found out that at least 1/3 of what you live for has been in vain. And there are now doubts on the other two thirds as well! ;)

When I played it way back when, I used trainers to a ridiculous amount. This most recent character, I'd say maybe... 3, 4 levels max out of my current 40 are from a trainer -- compared to levels 1 to 15 all from trainers.

Only training I usually do is on misc skills, like get alchemy to 15 if I didn't select it as a class skill Maybe do some for enchant, block, or armor skills I didn't pick (in case of finding something useful while exploring)

I use trainers occasionally on Miscellaneous skills, but never more than one training session per level. That's just enough to "kick start" a few of those "difficult" skills by a couple of points over the course of a couple of levels to where I can begin to self-train them. Generally, I'll try to find "credible" altenatives to allow me to self-train, such as having easier but still useful training spells made, like "Night Eye 3-5 points for 40 seconds" or "Waterwalk for 15 seconds" (no casting "useless" spells repeatedly at an inanimate object), or by "hunting" a Scrib for a while without killing it, for the practice (putting a weight on a key so the character sneaks up against a wall for hours is NOT at all "credible"). Fighting a weak enemy (like a Rat or Kwama Forager) with a weapon I'm unfamiliar with allows me to simultaneously work on that weapon skill plus armor skills, without the blatant stupidity of just standing there while some Mudcrab gnaws my ankle in order to make my armor skill better. To me, those aren't "hard" decisions; once I understood the mechanics and how easy it was to become overpowered, it was a "no brainer" to avoid using those exploits, or at least limit them to only when the're "required" to shape the character in some way.

Tougher decisions include things like: "would this character join that faction?". As previously mentioned, the toughest decisions are "should I keep playing, or catch some badly needed sleep?"

My hardest decision was which Great House to join. I was both a soldier and a thief of sorts, and was ready to take down the too-ambitious Telvanni. But join a beaten and crusted Redoran and restore its glory? Or side with the powerful Hlaalu and utilize their relationship with the Empire?

Always a tough one. I love both.

Or you could at least have both: join the powerful Telvanni, then gain access to Hlaalu after killing Orvas Dren, which is granted by Helseth. Two Houses memberships is always nice.

I do not think you understand, I slay the Telvanni regardless of character. :D

Hmm, i'm not fond of Solstheim to be honest (hate dem wolves :flame: ).
I'd rather be on the street corners of Mournhold, but to each his own.

Should I stay or should I go?

The Clash reference aside, I can never decide if I should look in a container or not. What if the container that is not owned by someone could be owned by someone? Blame that Argonian named Hul in Balmora who I think guards a bowl... I thought the bowl wasn't owned since it was outside. Nothing was in it. Why is an Argonian guarding bowls?! Oh wait. I think it was under the ownership of those Tong thief dudes at that one bar...

This. Especially with TR currently only having Telvanni and LGNPC favouring Redoran. I want to do all the new quests :(

Thieves guild or fighters guild?
you can do both if you dont do the code book quest before joining the thieves, and following the ald ruhn fighters guild guy rather than the master in vivec

as for me, what kind of character i will make will always be the trickiest

Whether to get sidetracked again by wandering into a tomb, cave, or ruin I notice on the way to do some other quest.

I more often than not lose to the temptation. The worst is when I'm on my way to finally do a quest that has been on the back-burner for way too long and of course I yet again get distracted. But that's the maddening pleasure of the game.

Also, back when I didn't know the quests well I hated having to decide to turn on a fellow guild member one way or the other and not know the consequences. Turning on (or not) Ranis Athrys in the Mage Guild sticks in my mind.
