What do the Velothi Mountains look like?

Post » Thu Jun 27, 2013 2:31 pm

So, for a mod I'm creating a small area in the Velothi Mountains, somewhere east of Windhelm. Because of this, it's pretty cold and snowy, but the problem is, I don't want it to look like just more of the same stuff we can see in Skyrim. Being in Morrowind, I want it to look the part: alien and inhospitable.

My first instinct was to make something like a snowy version of the Sheogorad region (snowy, but with plenty of rocks and mushroom trees), but Vvardenfell is probably pretty different to mainland Morrowind, and besides, I want something a little more unique.

So, I'm curious. What do you imagine the Velothi Mountains to be like?

Well the eastern side of the mountains would be covered in ash..... Throw in some mushrooms, more warm weather trees, and perhaps more vertical crags and drops.

Mountains are mountains in my book. If they didnt look much like a mountain then they wouldn't be called that. Even the Cyodillic Velothi Mtns were... "mountainy" And they wouldn't have a drastic change of appearance in the same mountain range

Just mountains with a bit of ash fall I'd imagine.

Here's the Tamriel Rebuilt team's take on it, at least.

This is pretty much how I'm going. Morrowind is a lot warmer than Skyrim and Cyrodiil, so snow doesn't make a whole lot of sense (except at really high altitudes). Ash and mushrooms makes sense, although it does feel a little too Solstheim-y.

Oh, and Saint_Jiub: thanks for the pic. I had no idea the TR folks were doing that side of Morrowind yet. I guess I've been out of the loop for a while ever. :)
