What the **** is wrong with PC gamers nowdays?

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 9:23 pm

Seriously, at what point did PC gamers become stuck up self opinionated idiots who expect the world from a day 1 product...

SINCE BEFORE CONSOLES, SINCE WHEN HALF LIFE, QUAKE, CS... all worked out of box perfectly, no **** like today.

No one says its console port because of no dx11..... its console piece of **** port because it has console features

GAME IS optimized for **** gamepads, not keyb and mouse...What are these console features you're speaking of?

I seem to remember CS, Quake and Half-Life have all had their fair share of aimbots and hacks. I even remember using some myself back in the day.

What is different about Crysis 2 compared to those?

Also I don't mean to be pedantic but I think console gaming's been around a lot longer than PC gaming. :)

OP u asshole ppl are allowed to have opinions........if you like the game so much go get fisted with it.

My issues with the game does not effect ur game experience........if you are satisfied, add better textures, dx11 customizable graphics will not alter ur experience.

Crysis 2 has sold very less units on pc because its such a POS

Crysis 2 has sold very less units on pc because its such a POSDo we have sales numbers yet? I'd be interested in seeing how much this has sold when compared to Crysis 1 within the same launch period.

I believe it's more often than not a case with multi platform launches that the PC version sells the least. Probably because there's a much larger player base on Xbox 360 and PS3 than people with gaming capable PCs.

There's also the point that the entire game was leaked on torrent sites a full month and a half before the game's release, which is definitely going to have affected some people buying the PC version.

I totally aggree to the starting post, everyone that blame this game so much should get together and make an own(maybe with the upcoming sanbox 3?) and then the whole community should rate it and say what they thing right into their face, cmon do it! you get as much time as crytek needed to make crysis 2, would be interesting, if you know everything so much better and if you think you know where the problems are and if you think it so damn horrible, then PLEASE HELP US AND MAKE A BETTER ONE. when i see how you talk about this game i have to think that you may think that you know how to make it better...THEN SHOW IT!!!

ill do, give me 3 years and 7 millions dollars. thats roughly what crytek had.

Oh make sure it has a decent story. Gameplay was fine but Crysis 1 story was total crap. Actually no gameplay was **** too. Warhead had good gameplay. But was way too short. Crysis 2 has good gameplay and a good story, the most important components of a game. Let's see what you come up with. I'll give you a week to design an epic plot for your version of Crysis 2 set in the Lingshan isnlands.

IMO starting with the plot is a schoolboy error when designing a game. The plot should have to fit in with the game not the other way around.

you have so many actions under one button.. you have missing features, dumbed down capabilities.. its just ****.
you have gfx setting that cut out stuff with 20 meters, wtf? I dont have crappy ps3 or xbox... comon now..
scope zoom is under melee button, wtf is this ****? its because of console controllers..

its not only in crysis 2.. every friggin game since consoles that are multiplat are just crap.

peak times 15 MLN PEOPLE played counterstrike online at pc-s... today we have sales that cant make 1/7 of it not to mention how many ppl acutally play online same time.

today we have dlc-s... devs sell us maps.. ****? what? mods?

ah what ever.. im just so pissed that i cant play multiplayer without serious gamebraking bugs n hackers everywhere.

for **** sake we have client side netcode... what the hell is up with that? u know what? because of consoles.. they have **** p2p hosting..

Also I don't mean to be pedantic but I think console gaming's been around a lot longer than PC gaming. :)

Crysis was NEVER about gameplay, it has always been about amazing visuals.

Image

I second that. The arguments are getting worse everyday.

Crysis 2 has indeed always been about amazing visuals. If the 1st game had average visuals it wouldn't have been so famous and would've been lucky to sell 1/3 of what it did.

in UK crysis 2 sold only 14% in retail that shows its not very popular with people. And in DD, if you check steam stats on 3 to 4k ppl are playing crysis 2

I know leak might have some impact but not that big, the game was not downloaded many times on torrent and was incomplete

Plus ppl dont selective buy or pirate games. If they want to pirate they do it for all games...nobody can make them buy a game

i bet you if the game came out with visuals 2x that of the first crysis like DX11, high res textures, etc the game would have sold a HELL of a lot more.

for **** sake we have client side netcode... what the hell is up with that? u know what? because of consoles.. they have **** p2p hosting..Hmm, on a point by point basis:

So many actions under one button - On a gamepad I can understand this, with reload and use being on the same X button but that's not the case with the PC version. Reload and use are on seperate keys, if you're talking about the usage of nanosuit powers such as maximum strength and jumping etc, I like to think it's been improved on the power wheel cycling of the first Crysis. That's just my opinion though. If i've missed anything here feel free to tell me.

Missing features and dumbed down capabilities - Like what? I don't think any of the features and capabilities in the first Crysis are missing from this. They've improved on this actually - For instance with the Nanosuit upgrading. You certainly couldn't do that in the first Crysis, customisation's been vastly improved since the first game and capabilities such as stealth kills.

Draw distance and scope zooming - Draw distance and item pop-in, fair enough on that point. Scope zooming though, can't that be changed in control settings? I know i've got my melee changed to a mouse button.

peak times 15 MLN PEOPLE played counterstrike online at pc-s... today we have sales that cant make 1/7 of it not to mention how many ppl acutally play online same time. - I know CS was incredibly popular, it still is. But the thing with Counterstrike, is that it was a mod. A mod for a very, very popular first person shooter that could run on a massive range of PCs. That, and it was quite well balanced I thought. :) Some PC games still sell ridiculously well mate.

today we have dlc-s... devs sell us maps.. ****? what? mods?[/b] - That's just company greed unfortunately. Keep in mind that's not the case with some PC games, especially with Valve and Left 4 Dead and Team Fortress 2. The 'big two' (EA and Activision) do like their DLC though.

ah what ever.. im just so pissed that i cant play multiplayer without serious gamebraking bugs n hackers everywhere. - I know. I am too. I'm sure a LOT of people are. I was really looking forward to multiplayer on PC and there are tons of hackers around. But that doesn't mean it's a **** game.

It's a great game, ruined by **** people.

It wouldn't have run on my rig.

No specific numbers which is what would be really interesting when compared to Crysis 1, but yes - That is quite low. I don't know what the average is for multiplatform releases.

I think as far as that's concerned, if we know how many the Xbox 360 version sold, we can get a PC sales number from the 57% sales figure.

I disagree that the leak wouldn't have had a large impact. It's not like it was an 0-day leak, it was a full month and a half for people to get their mitts on it. It was possible to complete the entire game through the leak in much less than that time.

I know most people don't selectively buy/pirate games, and a pirated copy isn't necessarily a lost sale, but in this situation? I don't know - I just get the feeling it had a massive impact on something as hyped up for the PC as Crysis 2. It's not like it was any old title here, let's be honest.

but it's not what crytek promised us. and its full of bugs, flaws...

you cant argue against it can you?

why do you like faulty products?

oh and if you would be true pc gamer who has played most popular games you would know why crysis 2 has so many fundamental flaws.

I just cant be arsed to explain you all the points what's wrong with this "consolized" feeling

Yes, that includes Crysis 1. It's a very very pretty game.

why do you like faulty products?I'm not arguing against it at all, my response was asking what Crytek actually promised. I am actually completely unaware as to what they initially promised us, and what they haven't delivered on, and I was hoping someone would actually be able to link me to something Crytek initially promised and have now broken like 'We will launch with DX11'. I haven't seen anything like that yet.

I don't like faulty products. This isn't a faulty product. It's buggy, and it's flawed, but i've played a lot of buggy and flawed games and still gotten a lot of enjoyment out of them. This is no different. :)

Oblivion was buggy and flawed.

Fallout 3 was buggy and flawed.

They are still absolutely excellent games.

I play through the game, I smile when playing the game, I enjoy it when i'm playing the game. That's all that matters to me.

I am assuming from your previous comments that you dont own a high end card. But my my gtx 570 I have compared crysis 1 and 2 and crysis 1 is the clear winner. Maybe on low-mid end machines crysis 2 looks good, but all it adds is HDR and excessive bloom

yes but It was supposed to be 10 times better than it is today.

check out youtube for e3 vids...

where is dx11?
where is destructible enviroment?
where are high res textures?
where is sandbox?
where are normal gfx options?

why I'm forced to suffer motion blur and bloom? why?

I'm running on an Alienware M11xR2 at the moment, so it's a Geforce GT 335m on an Ultra-Low Voltage Core i5 @ 1ghz.

That could very well be the case. All I know from my own experience, is that on my setup, it both runs better than C1 and looks better than C1.

It could very well be true that C1 with everything maxed out with details as high as they could go looks better than C2. :) But I think C1 didn't sell very well because it was 'all out beauty or bust' if you get what I mean.

I agree with the OP 100%. Dude, you're not alone, I am with you in the fact that the PC gamers nowadays SERIOUSLY are needing to get a grip <_<"

My guess? It's just a bunch of teenagers and whiny children. NO WAY can there be people above the age of let's say, 20, that are crying without proper reason for any issue in the game. Seriously, people need to wait to reach the age of 17+, it's on the damn box...."RATED M FOR MATURE: 17+"

I heard there's going to be a law passed that does not allow sale of M rated games to minors and some stuff about trying to make sure kids don't play M rated games until they reach the legal age of 17+. THIS LAW MUST BE PASSED. Those kids can wait till' they are 17+. I personally had to wait, now it's their turn (well.....okay, i DID play Duke Nukem 3D at 12 BUT......come on, it's Duke :P)

When Crysis 2 was announced, a lot of players began saving up money and purchased a rig that would definitely allow them to play the game at max and see the graphics that can make normal to mid gaming computers beg for mercy if they try to go max settings. Sure they announced that the game will get a console port but that did not stop PC gamers to still look up at crytek and say

' It's ok if you give the console gamers a share of our joy just don't forget us PC gamers who were your first and loyal customers '.

When the demos got released, that was the start of the downfall of it all. When the game was released, the foundations slowly began to shatter slowly. People who invested money and wanted to say " My dream gaming rig made it! Wooohooo! " ended up saying " WTH just happened?! ".

See, with all the hype made by Crytek to this game, the enthusiasm and expectations of PC Gamers were smashed to smithereens. Sure, everyday you get your expectations smashed like a bug but you don't get a good smash effect like what Crytek did on this one.

@Mad0ne - Really? What did they initially demonstrate that's such a step forward from what's been finally released? I think the whole 'It was supposed to be 10x better' comment comes from people's expectations, especially considering Crysis 1 is still such a beast as far as graphics are concerned. I think it's just a case of people expecting Crysis 2 to be this game that can't be run on full settings for another five years, and instead we got a game that's designed to be run on current hardware, not be a system killer like the first one.

That's exactly why Crysis 1 didn't sell well. In addition to that though, the gameplay was love or hate, and multiplayer basically svcked for the most part, at least to most gamers (I'm one of them who holds that opinion).

Crysis 1 didn't sell so well for that very reason. I can imagine that's exactly why Crysis 2's shift was on current hardware instead of future hardware, so it would actually sell a few more copies.

That's also why i'm interested in seeing sales figures compared to the first one. :)
