What's their to Wraith About

Post » Mon Jan 27, 2014 12:33 am

You know as I was thinking about it, why didn't things like wraiths come back?

Especially for the shipwrecks that line Skyrim's shores. That seems like a cool call back, imo. One of the ships being haunted or something.

And this will be taken as a suggestion for the next even when its clear I'm just asking a question about Skyrim

But talking about the shoreline

What about sirens?

Sea monsters?

I feel like there was wasted beastiary potential.

Well, you can't have everything. Would have been good to have but, Would you really want wraiths degraded in Skyrim by having them smacked around by a pickaxe? I already hate what they did to vampires don't need to retcon their whole lore just for the sake of having it in the game.

Well wraiths seemed to make sense considering they hung around ships. I am not asking for more.

But I think I have made this comment several times before. I'm a fantasy player I come for the fantasy not the wolves.

I was wondering the same thing... Before the game came out, I was heavily anticapting summoning those things. But then only found Ice Wraiths, which were neat... but that's it. ONE variant, and they were not summon-able[corrected this when I switched to PC] :stare:

Wispmothers also "sort of" count as Wraiths. Just, focusing on range rather than melee, and they move faster and more elegantly.

I am much more disappointed in the severe lack of daedra though. Especially as a Master conjurer. Goodness knows I will never forgive Bethesda if they ever even remotely think of removing Dremora Lords as summonables in the next game.

I got the impression they were trying to do something a little different with enemies in Skyrim, going with what probably would exist in a fictional fantasy version of a viking homeland. Hence the major toning down of daedra that were more prevalent in Morrowind and Oblivion. Unfortunately, that possible decision ended up with piles upon piles upon piles of draugr, which got boring quick.

I wholeheartedly agree. Not just the absence of Wraith's, but the lack of significant enemies. Although Skyrim is my next favorite game to Oblivion, I couldn't argue when my friend joked that Skyrim was a "Dungeon Cleaning Simulator." Draugr and Dragons, with the occasional Bandit. Other enemies are few and far between. Not literally, but relatively. Compared to Oblivion, the downgrade was almost painful.
