What Things From Past Fallout Games Would You Like To See?

Na, he would sound exactly the same as he did in Fallout 3.

How is that an odd concept? Its fairly fitting for Harold, who has basically turned into an Ent at this point.

On a rifle, hell yeah... on a pistol, hell no.

But you are right about the Wattz 2000 not having iron sights... so... hmmmmmm....

What do I want to see brought back from a past fallout? The Nuka Cola delivery guy from Fallout Tactics and "Yellow" Nuka Cola, brewed by a crazy naked man who "made water".

I really miss the critical animations from fallout 1/2 cutting someone in half with a minigun or the greatest (imo) death animation and sound from a plasma melting someone into a pile of goo is something I sorely miss..the bzzzt noise and pile of ashes doesn't really have the same effect.

some good examples....used to look forward seeing what death animation you would get...the random body parts flying is nice but I enjoyed the scripted stuff more.

Fallout 4 actually takes place before Fallout NV on the timeline (2277 for Fallout 3 and 4, 2281 for NV) so most events of the NCR-Legion conflict would have happened yet. That being said, it would be cool to see things of that nature

Normally I have no sympathy for when people say they want the series to go back to the way it was for fallout 1 and 2 (fun for the time but for today...please), but the ability to target specific things, such as eyes (rather than just head, chest, legs, arms, weapon) in, and presumably out of VATS would be very cool

Indeed.

Those were the days of the ?" thick manual, when games expected a lot more from the player. These days... who could cope? It will be interesting to track the sales of the http://www.gog.com/news/release_forgotten_realms_the_archives, and read the forum postings about them; to see what the modern gamers who picked them up have to say about their first impressions. Yesterday I watched a blind let's-play of 'Devil Whiskey' (a modern take on an 80's dungeoncrawler). The guy was a bit freaked out at first, but surprisingly open minded about it. His party died miserably, and fast though; and he kept saying to himself that he had no idea what was happening; and kept getting startled by chance encounters, and ambushes.

Of past Fallout returns... I'd like to see the scanner option return as an equip-able item; basically like another pipboy menu, but one that behaves like the scanner in Aliens. It was a good idea, but one that was underused in Fallout and Fallout 2. I'd also like to see Geiger counters in the world; as most people did not have Pipboys.

Additionally, I would like to see non-combat explosives... just like the original games; to be used on locked safes, and unpick-able locked doors; and of course... Set-and-forget and reverse-pickpocket-able; like grenades, but with a user selectable delay.

lol how are they not fun by today's standards?

The only thing different about today are the quality of the graphics. Gameplay, at least in the RPG genre, hasn't really changed much.

Anyway, I'd like to see low-intelligence dialog again.

As others have said, actual choice and consequence. I want to have the things I do to have an actual affect on the game world. I don't want to have one super hero character who is the best at everything possible and whose choices and accomplishments have zero bearing on the game world, and who can accomplish every quest in the game; even those the run in opposition to each other. New Vegas had the right idea where you could not do all the Legion, NCR and Yes Man quests on the same character; but Bethesda really dropped the ball in Skyrim in this regard. Head of the Thieves guild, Head of the Brotherhood, Arch-mage etc. And even then to still be called a "sneak thief".

In short, consequence and recognition.

I'd love the game to take after, and build off of, Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas. I personally enjoy the FPP and TPP in New Vegas, but I also think Black Isle and Obsidian did a far better job with developing the games.

I doubt this will happen though considering all these interviews with Todd Howard and Pete Hines. They're acting as though every game besides Fallout 3 and Skyrim is nonexistent in the series and have stated to be developing the game with Skyrim in mind and have continued to compare the game with Fallout 3 and Skyrim, while ignoring New Vegas entirely.

Destroyed Beauty.

Fallout 3 with its ruins and washed out colours was very beautiful to me. I quite enjoy that ruined city aesthetic. It looks like we have colour now instead of the dull gray, brown, and green tones that contributed to the fallen city of DC, but there seems to be a lot of detail in all of the scenes Ive seen so far. I hope sometime soon we get a good 30 minute walkthrough of some solid gameplay, like they did with Skyrim. They are focusing mainly on the combat, whereas that was only one aspect of my favourite part of Fallout: Wandering a ruined and blasted landscape, with a trusty rifle on my back and a mind to survive to the next day. I am sure that ill still be able to wander through some beautiful ruins, but id like to see what it actually is like before launch just out of curiosity.

I don't know if aerial based enemies were in previous games, but it's something I would like to see in general with future titles. I think it would be kind of cool to see Eagles in a new mutated form. Bigger, faster, stronger, and far more aggressive and territorial. I can imagine some pretty fun set pieces where the player is exploring some dense urban ruins and this massive Eagle just swoops down on them.

Bring back fast travel encounters from FO1/2, fast traveling should be just as dangerous as normal travelling except when you get a vertibird.

I'd go for the original riot gear. I didn't really care for the shoulder pads on the Lonesome Road riot gear.
