What is Todd talking about here?

Hey, what is Todd talking about in this quote I gook from the Edge Magazine article?

We do very little humour in the Elder Scrolls and when we do it, it's humorous to the people /in/ the world as well as the viewer, if that makes sense. We had some things I thought were very funny in Oblivion. There's this one case where you meet this battlemage in a dungeon - turns out he's this little wood elf guy and he's like, ‘I know where the treasure is - follow me!’ and he runs right into a trap. The comedic timing of that level - it just crushes him immediately - it's like, ‘Follow m-’... Splat! It's really funny to someone in the world; that's the kind of stuff we go for. Just a little bit, not a lot.

I don't think I've ever come across a battlemage wood elf who runs into a trap. Does this actually exist?

This is a Mage's Guild quest? Weird. I'm not remembering this one at all.

Yes it made me laugh. Though, like most of us, I tried to save him but without success. But Todd doesn't exactly remember where it was...:-)) It's part of the Mages Guild quest to save ALIAS, just at the entry door of Ayleids ruins. He said, are you alone? Blablabla...... Then: FOLLOW ME!!! and: SPLASH.... Went crushed by a trap... Yes good humour...

Although some will disagree, I don't find squashing Bosmers to be the least bit funny! :stare:

I wonder if Todd has actually played Oblivion. Fithragaer is not after Treasure, he's after Necromancers. :)

But I see lots of humor in Elder Scrolls games, including Oblivion. But I never even though of Fithragaer running into a trap as particularly funny. That's an odd example, given that there are so many other more funny things in the game. Lord Rugdumph for example, not to mention Sheogorath. Or: "I heard a rumor you're an idiot, any truth to that". What about Falanu Hlaalu's inquiry about fines. Etc.

When you make so many games, and especially games with this amount of depth you tend to not remember 100% of details. Yes I'm sure he's played Oblivion tons.

Ha ha ha, nice catch. Let's hope he's so involved with making Skyrim the awesomest PRG ever, that he's actually forgetting what happened in Oblivion. :)

True. the whole Mazoga the Orc thing is also pretty funny. She makes you call her "Sir" and the quest will not continue until you do.
