What if EA took control of Fallout Instead of Bethseda

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 8:47 pm

So, what if the Fallout series was owned by Electronic Arts instead.

This is my Reaction :sadvaultboy:   :flame: :banghead: :swear: :drag:  :verymad: :wallbash:

Generic and repetitive Fallout shooter/datesim every year developed by Bioware. Milking the [censored] out of it and missing the point completely. And people would still love it so much they'd openly admit and discuss their real life boners over thoughts that they could stick their willies in rotting flesh of a ghoul, or alternatively get that rotting flesh inside themselves.

Or, a noname developer making a generic, clunky and overbudgeted actiongame every year -- provided they wouldn't get sacked after the first one.

Day one DLC's for everyone in any case!

I have a feeling that another disc or two would join PoS in the corner of shame. PoS is still in a corner of my room, in a box, snapped in half.

An online pass locking you out of a questline.

Shoddy tacked-on wave-combat multiplayer fighting hordes of super mutants and ghouls.

The burned game arises from its slumber.
If I may quote, from the Dinosaur Bible. Page 3256; line 52: And The Burned Game shall arise again. Heralding the end of the series as a whole, and perhaps; even the end of the world. Do not try to stay thy flow of hate, for thee shall let it flow true. Let thine hate be known, for doing otherwise will curse yourself to the 9th circle of DInosaur Hell, where thou shalt be forced to play The Burned Game for all eternity.

I'd say Hell has truly frozen over, and the end of days are already upon us.

Seriously though, I have a hard time believing EA would do such a thing. Even people's possible speculating theories, I can't think of any logical reasons Fallout would be sold this early on. It's shown it can be a good money maker for Bethesda, and after having just made one game out of the two newest installments, I have a hard time thinking any EA suits coming to approach with a buying number, would be allowed in to talk about it.

I'm only too glad the franchise isn't in the hands of the EA or Activision/Blizzard. Although, if it were instances of "Romance Harold Quest - How I came to love a Ghoul" would be common on the forums.

Games cost money to make. Thus they have to make money when released and released in a timely fashion as during development all said game is doing is costing money.

Single player games are on thier last legs. DLC is a stop gap measure to keep them alive and while I abhor chopping a game up, this is done so that ppl dont realize that the game they paid 60 bucks for is actually 100.

Games need multiplayer now so that p2win cash shops can be opened in order for games to make money. Just look at Diablo3 for information on this.

Now I said all this to try and show that while EA is the devil, they are a devil created by the masses of consumers and that if not the next fallout then a fallout soon will follow this pattern.

And just to add another terrifying thought, all these new games that follow this plan will be consoles only as consoles are getting on par with pc with the added bonus of knowing what hardware every end user will have thus reducing the cost of development.

I also trust them better then Bethesda or EA, but that doesn't mean that they would make a good and faithful Fallout. They are one of my favourite developers, but Fallout and Rockstar just don't fit.

I wouldn't mind if Rockstar owned this franchise. EA can go to hell.

EA ... they would remove SPECIAL and skills completely, add a cover system, turn it into a corridor shooter (even the originals were sandboxes), and probably make a Sims: Post Apocalyptic Edition.

BGS did an OK job with Fallout 3. They took the series to consoles... but that is the way the blows in the current market.

I'd rather Rockstar just create their own post-apocalyptic game, fresh and new, like Naughty Dog is doing with The Last of Us, than buy someone else's work. That way Rockstar can do what they do so good, which is make good narratives with good direction, and still keep to the sandbox gameplay style of GTA and RDR.
