What type of companion will complement you most?

Humanoid. Someone NOT very talkative.
I'd hate to hear constantly their comments.

A dog who is not very aggresive, but warns me of dangers ahead and doesn't run into danger without me. I'll be using marksman before enemies get close and I'd prefer the dog to stay on my side until I'm ready to go melee. It should also do power attacks for the most time, hit and run away and turn back around and attack again, and run away again. So he doesn't get killed and isn't in my way :)

See, I'm the opposite in that aspect. I mean, I don't want them talking ALL the time, but road conversation is nice.

Female, ranged combatant. Magic or bow doesn't really matter unless Skyrim's magic causes too much collateral damage (to me). Healing me would be nice but not essential. Buffing me with protection type spells would be nice, don't think I've ever seen a companion capable of that.

This is definitely something the game will lack, but I'd love to have a large fish companion. I'm going along in a dungeon, by myself, and then I see a troll, charging at me across a stone bridge, over an underground river. My magicka is low, I'm bleeding profusely, things look bad. Then BAM! TROUT TACKLE! The troll is in the water, drowning.

Undecided. When I use stealth it'll either be another stealthy character or someone beefy to divert attention. When I want to go in spells blazing I'll probably want a ranged fighter or spellcaster so that I don't accidentally freeze them.

And a dog companion can never be a bad idea.

I hope chain lightning and runes won't effect companions. Because if so, they'll have to learn to deal. :whistling:

For my Nord, I'd like an elven ranger. Someone to balance my character- which will have a warrior's structure. So I'd like someone on the opposite of that spectrum- thin, stealthy, ranged. A wood elf would be nice, or a dunmer.

For my Dunmer, I'd like an equal. Someone who can play off of my actions and I can play off theirs as well.

Now that we know we can only have one companion to compliment us, what's the best fit for you?

One of those canine hounds seen in the video footage.

I want my eagle! I could put notes on him and send him out to make contact or search for people, I would much rather have this than an all knowing compass. I could have him scout ahead while I'm out wondering. I would use him to fetch or find certain alchemy ingredients when I need something fast. I would also be disgusted when he brings me a dead rat as a present...but would cook and eat it anyway just to make her happy. This would be no ordinary eagle, he was trained at the College of Winterhold...so she could have some minor spells to throw around just for fun. I think I'll mod this in now that I'm getting into it. *gets notepad*

A breton bard for my redguard knight.
Lots of fun during downtime and trekking (stories, music, games, uplifting attitude), and works well in combat with his/her conjuration, mysticism, and restoration spells. :hugs:

Female Magic user who doesn't mind healing me between offensive spells while I butcher and burn everything that happens to be in my way. That 'bout sums it up.

Well I couldn't resist voting for the Monty Python option but a ranger like Dunmer on my side would work assuming he'll be wise enough to not shoot me while I'm stabbing stuff.

How could you vote for anything else than a male Breton Bard who constantly gets into trouble.
