What type of DirectX 11 Patch do you think we will get?

6GB DX11 patch? Ugh, people, you really need to get your facts straight <_<"

FYI, a 6GB DX11 patch means one thing=Either Crytek added A LOT OF OTHER **** other than DX11, like ANOTHER GAME with the patch, or this was just terrible compression at work.

A 6GB DX11 patch will never happen. 2GB actually, is asking for alot. DX11 is not as big as you people are making it out to be.

That includes textures...and if you want things like tesselation that actually increase the level of geometry, yes you need more than a few hundred mbs.

I'm trying to keep the faith for better textures and to have my fists back from C1, but being realistic, probably just better lighting. I still voted moderate though. Has anyone from Crytek seen BF3 screens or the 12 min trailer....for competition sake? Someone is trying (did?) to take their ball and run ahead.

Dice was never known for graphics, sound, destruction or immersion. Those were Crytek's strong points. Mods should acknowledge that they are reading our feedback and expectations

all this game really need is better textures. common crytek we all have plenty of vram and sytem ram. not like the 512 MB of console.
tesselation, dof, and contact hardening shadows are just icing on the cake. the most important thing this game need right now is sharp textures just like c1. c2 having worse textures than c1 is just ridiculous. btw keep in mind c1 is released in 2007. yea, 4 years.

Actually sharper textures is one of the main things this game really needs. The graphics are great but making it sharper and more vivid would make it legendary. Although I wouldnt really call dx11 only as icing, more like the chocolate layer.

Cheers!!

This patch will be most likely a reason for crytek to whine in the future when they announce that there will be no Crysis 3.

I can already see the interview "We will not port Crysis to PC this time... we went through the pain to create a DX11 patch for pc which added tesselation and it didn't even sell 10 million copies on PC!"

U missed the point Slayer. We expected graphical fidelity from Crysis 2 and that justified the extra premium price. Also Crytek never once confirmed that Crysis 2 will not have Dx11 at launch. Ppl were speculating that Dx11 would be day 1 launch or will launch simultaneously with Gtx 5990.

They misled ppl to buy the game. So the patch is not to move more units but to deliver contents that we paid for. If they want to sell DLC and Crysis 3 to me, they better earn it.

You overestimate the size of stronger textures, tesselation, and gemoetry levels. You heavily overestimate it. 6GB will never happen for a simple DX11 patch UNLESS Crytek did something SUPERY DUPERY CRAZY and made the game look 100000000 times better than a super modded Crysis 1 maxed out times 4.......if that even made sense.

A 2 GB patch? That's asking for a lot, but if that was the size, would be no surprise. A 1 GB patch is more expectable. 500 MB patch would not be a surprise either.

DA2 had a DX11 patch that did nothing and was 1GB.

Have you seen bc2 1 gb+ patches??? 6gb is an expression of our expectation. Its not a hard limit. As long as they just dont include dx11 for a bullet-point, we will be fine

U know what dx11 patch I want? The one Yerli said, on november 9th of last year, would be included in Crysis 2. (and don't say I'm a dx11 fanboy, this is the 2nd time I've replied in a dx11 thread, the 1st being telling the guys in the official announcement thread what multithreaded rendering is)

http://www.nvidia.co.in/object/nvidia-gtx-580-press-20101109-in.html

“For Crysis 2, we’ll take advantage of what NVIDIA’s new GeForce GTX 580 GPUs bring,” said Cevat Yerli, president and CEO of Crytek. “A supersoldier that needs to save NYC from an alien invasion needs the best tech possible. That’s not only his Nanosuit, but also stunning DX11 geometric realism that a GPU like the GeForce GTX 580 can offer for our PC gamers.”
