What to use to for my comic collection to say what they are

Post » Thu Nov 25, 2010 1:53 pm

I found my old comics, and I would like to keep them in order. What should I use on the computer or internet that will tell me what I have, and tell me the worth of it? I know I have to put the info in, on what I have, but is there a free program that I can use that will do this for me? Say I have Spiderman 100. I enter it in the data base, be in on PC or online, and then enter the condtion and it will keep it in memory and tell me the price for it. This way I will have a listing of all the comics I have once I put it all in.

Is there anything like this for free? I tried looking online, but the want me to register and only give you a few "free" trackings or what ever the call it and then want money. How can it be free if you have to pay? So I don't know what to trust anymore.

So what do you recomend to keep a tally on my comics and tellme how much they cost.

http://www.comicspriceguide.com/

make a free account. My collection is on here.
are you good at grading them? I am always conservative in grading (meaning grade down rather than high if unsure).

I went there. Will they do it for all my thousands of comics I have? I was about to sign up, when it asked for money for more services, so I cancelled it thinking this was a scam.

I never paid money for it. what are the extra services?
You have a lot, maybe that's why. I only have a bout 250 books on there.

Overstreet Price Guide is reliable.

I tried selling comics on eBay once, comics are just too low in value at the moment.

hehe, they were low in value when I was collecting them as well. It's a bunch of bunk that comics can net you alot of money. Unless you have the few that everybody wants. Like Action Comics #1 for example, you will not be getting much money for you comic collection.

For me, I just thought it's time, I catalogued (is that the proper term?) my collection and would be nice to see what is what at a glance. Since everthing is on the net now, I thought I would try it out. I didn't think it would be this hard to find. tried the doing it on paper, but if I missed an issue, it's easier to edit on the computer. I just wanted to know if there is a program that I could use to do this.

It would let me put in the title, the condition, and the worth and notes if I wanted to.

CPG will only let a free account put up about 50 or 100 or so comics. If you want to put up more, you'll have to cough up money. You could always put up 50 (or whatever number), note down the price, then remove them and put up another 50.

You can also put everything up on MyComicShop if you create an account (free). They also have a program where they will buy your comics. Most of mine go for a pittance, though. =/ Still, I find it useful to put my stuff up there as another sort of "record "of what I've got and the condition it is in (I put everything in a spreadsheet file, too, on my computer).

I tried selling on Craaigslist, I took the sell prices MyComicShop sells for, then reduced them by nearly 50%, but none of my stuff has moved for over a year. Alternatively, you can try to sell on Ebay, you might have the best luck there if you're looking to make a profit and are willing to invest the time and effort.

Some comic shops will purchase used comic books, but they can be pretty picky about which eras they will purchase (for example, hardly anyone wants anything made in the 90's to current).

There are books you can buy, I think they come out annually, that are price guides.
