What use is there for the Pip-Boy app?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 10:00 pm

In game, you can just open your Pip-Boy menu, which freezes time. The only reason I have been using it so far is because it lets me see stuff when not on my comp, and I can play the games (with poor touch controls) on my phone elsewhere.

I actually use it, just to swiftly flick between radio stations, distress signals etc.

Yeah honestly... Sometimes it can actually be quicker for me to tap over from my Status to my Radio tab in the app than it is to pull right trigger four or five times. ;)

I mostly use it when I'm away from the game, though. That's when I play the minigames or check up on quests and inventory, etc.

i tink its main job is to make you come, expecialy If you order a Pip-boy edition or get a pip boy frame 3d printed.

As much as it sjust a fantoy I actualy use it to browse inventory while moving/shooting(for some reason they didnt implement skyrims favourtie system) or as minimap, cause its easy to get lost in boston. Its a nice lil addon and its not completely useless ;p just give it a chance xD

I use the app on an iPad next to monitor. Handy to have the map open on cross country hikes. Also on Status screen are stim pac, and rad away buttons, quick and easy to tap those than open Pipboy.

I mostly use to turn the radio station quickly, which is very helpful for me.

Same as the others in general, I have a Nexus 7" just under my Monitor (my monitor is raised) and I have the map open while exploring and it changes in real time, also checking weapons you have after looting instead of putting the game on hold with the PipBoy. I find it quite useful for checking almost everything and it is generally quicker to do it with the App than in game? A full sized iPad Air is the best, I tried one and it looks clearer on that than on my PC even with the INI tweaks to improve the PipBoy clarity and remove those lines that slowly run down the screen. Do a Google for those fuzzy lines tweaks plus there is a texture file Mod that cleans it up more. On a side note everything is slightly clearer to read just with the PipBoy Font changed to white in display settings, you all probably know that but just in case?

I keep it on the world map all the time. It use a Nexus 7 device for the app with a stand too. It's a better real-time navigation tool than the nautical style compass.

I use it on the toilet, to check if my wife plays while im gone for a min. Then i proceed to drop all equiped gear and turn the radio on when i hear her attacking something. When i check the map she is usually running circles or swimming in the ocean.

I usually have the map up on it, or like others to switch radio channels...

The other way I use it is when I get back home after a few looting runs and decide it's time to change my look. I zoom out facing my character, then I lean back with my ipad and just flip through equipment. Instead of jumping in and out of the pip-boy in game, then having to re-zoom out on my character each time... works great.

I use it mainly for viewing the map. Seeing the local map when inside a building is really handy instead of keep looking at the in game pip boy. Also for playing space invaders while I'm at work. I really like the app!!

the app is handy when you're fighting, have it open on the aid tab and pop stims and medx and jet with a tap of your finger. also handy to have the map page open when you're off exploring

Pip boy in game takes to long to use its kinda useless anyways. all the inventory is just a huge list of crap with no sort options.

This!

I actually use it as a hand warmer, as leaving the PipBoy app running on my phone heats it up pretty good. I might use it to heat my coffee cup next.

Seriously, it does. This may be a problem. I cannot play this game with the app on for more than a couple of hours before my Nexus 7 is completely drained while plugged in.

ok, I did find a prize while using the Pip-Boy app on my Nvidia Shield.. MULTIPLAYER COOP!

my son sometimes will be my wingman and run my inventory, give me quick aid, weapon changes, etc.. I know I can do it with keyboard shortcuts, but it is quite fun to have someone helping out! :D

I use the app on an iphone 5s in my pip boy. I like the added immersion and the convenience. It is quicker to navigate and when exploring or traveling it's great to have the map open. The added immersion of the physical Pip- Boy is pretty nice, too.
