What version of TES V are you looking for?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:14 pm

I have been with TES from the begining. The only game I didn't buy and kicking myself is Redguard. (I just didn't care at the time for 3rd person adventure games. Wish I could get it now.)

Well I am curious as to what verion is people thinking TES is going to be? By that what are you expecting it from? When I played Arean I thoguht it was great. Daggerfall added SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more than Arean. When Morrowind came out, I was disapointed it wasn't like Daggerfall, but I grew to love the game and is one of my all time favorites. So when Oblivion came out I was sssssssssooooooooooooooooooooooo disapointed that it wasn't Morrowind 2.

Well now I love Oblivion. So Since there are lots of people who played Oblivion but never played any past TES game or played them afterwards but Oblivion is their favorite and looking forward to TES V, I am curious are these people going to think that TES V will be Oblvion 2.

For me, I have lernt that every TES game is so different but yet the same. So now I know not to expect Morrowind 3, or Oblivion 2.

But I am curious, as to how many people think that TES V will be Oblvion 2 instead of a totally different game. I give this advice so people will not be disapointed when the game comes out and it's not Oblivion 2.

As for my poll,

1) would be the games are similar but still yet different. Just like Oblivion is not Morrowind which is not Daggerfall, but yet they still seam to share some of the same characteristics. Same characterisistics would be Openend game, desgin your own character, do what ever you want, when ever you want.

2) would be like how Oblivion is, but with more stuff added to it.

3) Something that we would not consider a TES game. Something toataly different, we would swear this wasn't a TES game, like closed ended game play, no character creation, guns. no 1st person play etc etc.

Lol, Oblivion 2.0. I cringed while I read that. I would simply not buy TES:V if it was anything like Oblivion.
I want a continuation of the series as far as the story goes obviously, but as far as it being like Oblivion? They better have improved on pretty much everything immensely.

I would rather see a Morrowind 2.0 than Oblivion 2.0. I voted the first option; I want the game to be different and updated, but more like Morrowind.

I liked Oblivion's combat system, but otherwise I'd like something different, so option #1 one for me.

I'd like this as well.

So if we say, "Hey, this is how we're doing shadows, you're John Carmack, what do you think?" And he says, "You're going about it the right way," and he gives us some things to consider at a high level - things he's messed with in shadow filtering and so forth.

I want to believe. :P

on topic:
If we get another bowl like environment, I will be very disappointed. If they make zones as in STALKER/FALLOUT I will be furious. Bring back levitation and have open cities. This is the version I know of.

I have a feeling that Bethesda is going to carry on the tradition of completely changing the game, and getting a whole seperate fanbase, and digging a deeper hole for themselves into all the arguing about how was better than , and how is unfairly flamed and how is a disgrace to Elder Scrolls lore.

It happens every time. Bethesda never learn.

I couldn't vote because my option's not up there.

I was originally waiting for Morrowind 2.0. Oblivion ended up being Morrowind 0.5. As in, Morrowind with less stuff. I don't understand when people say that Oblivion is a whole new innovation, built from scratch. Because it really is exactly like Morrowind, only with less stuff to do and flashier, more contrived quests.

Still waiting for Morrowind 2.0. Or at least something equally fun.

No more stripping away vast amounts of features to accommodate people who hate playing RPGs and then calling it a "compromise," please.

Here Daggerfall 2.0

Why not include these options in the poll?

Because Oblivion 2.0 may be more realistic than MW 2.0 or Daggerfall 2.0?

But also less fun.

EDIT: Besides, they already made Oblivion 2.0. It's called "Falloput 3"

As you can see, it's a minor improvement over Oblivion, but still lacks the charm and depth and fun of Daggerfall or Morrowind, imo.

In other words, they really need to get back into putting love and thought into all the intimate details, instead of just slapping a few flashy quest-lines into an empty world and hoping the physics and graphics will distract the player from the absence of content.

Essentially every TES game is the same. Just with improvements. I would like TESV to be a TES game but be made completely from scratch. like potion making. Have potions, have ingredients, but completely remake the brewing system of having to choose this that dose that.

To be onest I played only with Oblivion and no other TES game.

I really like oblivion for almost everything.

Things I don't like are, for eg:
1) A better fighting system:
- When I hurt somebody or slay a dead body it would be nice if it get's cut ( I mean a red line on the skin, as would happen if you cut somebody with a sword )
- More different attack actions, it's not nice to have only Hit ( left click ) & Hard Hit ( right click ).
- When I hit an enemy it would be nice if depending on where I hit him changes his action ( if I knee down to attack at the legs with an hard attack it should at least falldown for a few seconds )
- The possibility to interrupt an attack if I notice that the enemy is going to attack back.
2) Younger people: onestly, people in that game are all so old !
3) Better graphics for the long range: I don't like to see nice grass next to me and low textured mud at the other side of the river, and when I swim over there every thing magically appears. Eg: If ther is a building distant from me, it should load a bit at a time ( I can only say, something like in the metin game )
4) Cleaner water: In the past there wasn't polution as in nower days, so I think that water at that time was a bit cleaner.
5) Shadow, that's for sure ( thanks da mage, I almost forgot this one ).
6) Almost never ending map: It would be very cool If I could leave the lands of Tamriel to visit Morrowind or other places in the same game ( That would be  )

I could say that oblivion was a very fantastic game, but lots of elements where poor of reality: for The Elder Scroll V ( I think that you could name it simply "The Elder Scrolls" or "The Elder Scrolls V" as they did now for medal of onor, I mean they didn't call it in any strange way because everybody knows that title ) I would like much more reality in every action and in graphics, It would be nice to get married or have more different relations with people ( friend, big friend, archenemy,... ).

If I figure out something else, I'll let you know

P.S.: Just to know, when should TES-V come out ? I mean do we have a month, a season or a year ?, or should I wait as for Diablo III ( If you know what I mean ) ?

Edit: Now I remember a very important thing: Could the guards not be a Sherlock Holmes-Army ?

Like has been stated, I would prefer the skill systems/guilds/quests to be more like Morrowind's, while the combat and AI to be more similar to Oblivion's. I'm not too concerned with the graphics to be honest, because if I were, I wouldn't be able to play Morrowind. And while Oblivion looked great, I preferred the gloomier Morrowind graphic's style. Oblivion looked to... generic. Generic forest, generic creatures, generic towns.

Also, more creatures in the water please. I hated how in Oblivion you'd come across a slaughterfish once in a blue-moon. And nothing else, at all. At least have some fish (non-interactable if you must) swimming around the corals and sea-weed. Water-dreughs would be a nice addition.

Also, no level-scaling please. I'd rather have it like Morrowind where I could find myself in a situation where I could not possibly win, then have it like Oblivion where I could beat everything at level 1 if I wanted to.

I have faith in you, Bethesda :D

Also, no gore please. Keep that to Fallout.

Bahahahahaha.
No. Morriwnd 2.0 is more than likely what TES:V will be like. I think Bethesda is an intelligent company, and they can learn from their mistakes. I think they will look at OB and realize what everyone hated *which was a lot* and make it better, and also implement things from MW that everyone loved. I think TES:V will be the best TES game thus far.

5 Septims says some Daggerfall fan said the same thing about TES IV being Daggerfall 2.0 after Morrowind's release, despite Morrowind's greater overall critical and sale success. Replace Daggerfall in that statement with Morrowind, Morrowind in that statement with Oblivion, and TES IV in that statement with TES V and you have the current situation.

Exactly. Thank you.

You also notice the continuous trend of betraying the expectations of their original, smaller fanbase to accommodate a larger, more lucrative audience.

I notice differences. What people make of those differences is not what I will claim to know, but I know they make differences that people get upset about, and they will continue to do so. Going for a wider fanbase is to be expected of a company.
