What we WANT in Fallout 4

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 2:07 pm

1. Proper bugfixing. For once it would be nice to have at least most bugs fixed.

2. Proper, practical and functional UI.

3. If item degredation is kept, tone it down! Seriously, I'd like to fire my gun more than ten times before breaking.

4. More modular armor system and them to have both DT and DR.

5. Properly written plot, dialogue, NPCs, etc. But this is a BGS game so that's a bit tall order.

6. No co-op or any kind of multiplayer. That'd kill mod support and thus severely shorten the lifespan of the game.

- Good branching storyline with actual choice and consequence

- Good inworld reactivity and interactivity, cause and effect

- Persistent world where you have to live with your choices good or bad without cheap backdoors through everything

- Proper ending

- Well written multifaceted characers and factions

- Multipath multisolution quests

- Internally and lore consistent world

- Comprehensive skill and stat system that makes an actual profound difference in gameplay

- Less FPSy run'n gun combat

- Overall more character driven gameplay (skills and stats -> world interaction on all levels)

..I know it's too much to ask, but that's what I want...

New CALIFORNIA Republic in Boston? Them being in Arizona and Nevada was reasonable but it is a big stretch putting them on the east coast.

This. As both FO3 and FO:NV demonstrated, power armor ends up being underwhelming without both DT (to block small arms fire) and DR (to cushion the damage from heavier ordnance).

Pretty much this.

Learn from New Vegas please Bethesda (or maybe even the original games in the franchise - that would be strange, wouldn't it?)

Probably a bit late to request stuff... more to show what you're hoping for.

I'd like it follow more in the steps of FONV rather than FO3, with a couple other points:

- harvest resources from the environment (why should I buy from people if I can pick fruit, bottle water, hunt, etc myself?)

- special ammunition, and the crafting thereof, for weapons

- optional hardcoe 'needs'

- rep more important than karma

- weapon mods (esp removable/modular ones)

- women have real models (not manly models, and not the communities 18+ models)

FONV did come post-FO3, and therefore incorporated a lot of features that were previously fan-made (like the idea of weapon mods) - but since it was done by a different publisher entirely I don't know how much it will follow.

I still play FONV. I have to try to enjoy FO3, and only in small doses. I should probably get Tale of Two Wastelands, but (1) my FO3 is via Live, not Steam (which is now defunct) so I might have to repurchase, and (2) I would lose content mods for FO3. It's very hummin' and hawwin' a situation. I can't find out if I need a Steam version of FO3 or not, and even if G4WL was fine, I don't remember my login sooo.... *shrug*

Doors that require a high explosive skill to break open ( except for vaultec vault doors.)

Such as a bank vault door, armory, secret entrance, etc.

No. This is Fallout, not TES. Therefore it should have definitive ending.

Hopefully, they are already done adding stuff to the game at this point. My biggest hope for this game is that they have added a higher level of depth to the simulation, A.I., and NPC interaction.

I liked what I could make out so far in this game. I like the more colorful art direction and more densely populated maps etc. etc..

It can be changed with a little modification anyway.

Nothing is definitive until everything is complete. Once im satisfied, ill start a new game.

- Lots of ruined, urban environments, both outdoors and indoors, to explore. I love those environments in Fallout 3, but wish there were more of them.

- A real open world, not pseudo-open as in Fallout 3.

- Interiors and exteriors integrated in the same world space. Having them separated is my main niggle with Bethesda games since Morrowind.

- Realistic lighting.

since beth has the doom, rage and the wolfenstien IPs maybe a few items advertising them. like a blaskowitz npc or a the nazi 60s assault rifle. basically similar to how valve did a a lil bit of advertising for portal (they added a voiced AI) when skyrim came out. actually maybe they can get valve onboard to add a crowbar, hevsuit and gravity/portal gun.

combat wise i would hope they build off of what Newvegas did and add different ammo types, pump action shotguns, bullpup anims (need a gun to use it) and aim down sights. also attachments that can be added and removed and swapped, more attachment types like underbarrel weapons (like a nadelauncher or a underbarrel railgun) or front rifle grips for stability and accuracy, a cover system maybe and hopefully a ACTUAL beltfed machinegun.

more useful items types like cryo nades or flash bangs or smoke grenades.

I'll say it now.....

Inon Zur on the soundtrack! I loved his work in Fallout 3. It invoked so many emotions that just fit perfectly with the setting. Don't pull a DA and replace Inon with a generic composer, Beth!

Here are a few things:

1) Non-VATS combat to not svck.

2) A variety of animals and plants that aren't mutants.

3) No random CTDs.

4) Meaningful relationships with the npcs.

5) The ability to fast-travel while over-encumbered.

I'm not sure how much of an impact we customers can do at this stage, but I still want to leave a comment in hopes of the developers acknowledging this post.

My favorite part about Fallout and Oblivion/Skyrim for that matter, is the stealth gameplay. There are many enemies to fear in FO games, and stealth really creates a whole different atmosphere. However, the stealth system in previous games lacked depth compared to Skyrim, for instance. I would really like a improvement in Fallout 4 where it's easier to sneak up behind enemies and silently take them out with a knife or any silent melee weapon of your choice. I found myself to be detected most of the times before I managed to get in range of bashing my enemies head in.

So in general, I would like to see a improved melee (close quarter combat) system where it's perfectly "viable" to start out with a trusty knife, relying on stealth to outsmart your opponent without suffering too much from not relying on a ranged weapon. As fun as it is blowing up tons of enemies in Fallout games, I think the game deserves a better stealth system and add in more instances where stealth is by far the best way to reach your goal. So far in my opinion, there were not enough instances where stealth succeeded better vs going all out crazy with your arsenal of heavy weapons. Let's make stealth even stealthier. Let us sneak around more efficient and backstab the enemies while putting down "tin can mines" in tight spaces, just in case we get caught. You might or might not want to go as deep as "throwing rocks" to distract your enemies, but please, consider putting more thought behind it! :)

I hate to bring this up, but a game that does the stealth elements really well is the Far Cry series (at least Far Cry 3 / 4). You get the opportunity to either take enemies out on your way into a nest of enemies, or sneak in without killing anyone to cause havoc once you are in the core of the nest. That being said, both Fallout and Skyrim put a lot of thought behind the stealth system, but did not succeed as well as I it could.

Thanks to anyone reading this, and thanks to everyone working on the game. Great trailer, I will buy the game as soon as it sees the light of day!

Bermrad out!

I want Bows, badly want Bows in Fallout 4. It would add another skill to the game which isn't bad and would also allow poisons and other elements like fire to be used at crafting tables. It would probably not be great against enemies wearing armor but that's fine would be a tradeoff to using a bow.

The other things I want.

Deathclaws to be like New Vegas deathclaws where if you see one you're like "Holy Bleep, run". :ahhh: :ahhh:

Super Mutants that are more like New Vegas and I know it isn't lore friendly but do bring back Behemoths those were fun to fight in Fallout 3.

Ironsight mode like New Vegas

Have the talk button also hold objects like it did in Skyrim

Character creator do more then just a simple slider, adjust stuff like weight, torsos, chest, etc

Traits and good ones too, even Gifted which is broken but hey choice.

Multiple Choices to quests and deep/engaging/funny NPC's

A stamina system that can be used for Power Attacks and sprinting, while also keeping Vats too.

That's it for now, can't think of anything else that isn't too obvious. :fallout:
