What We Want To See In Skyrim

Thank's for the feedback!.

"The ability to wear rings on each finger" DELETED

Why delete it? I like the idea of wearing rings on each finger.

The ability to wear rings on each finger would be heavily overpowered once enchanted... thats the thing I don't like from your list...

But then how realistic is it that you can only wear three rings when you have 10 fingers? I mean really....
And if those power gamers want to exploit that and make their character super powerful, then so be it; they're power gamers. I like to play a weak character and don't even use enchanted items. So stuff like that wouldn't bother me at all.

Agreed. It's fun challenging yourself, not exploiting the game, and sticking to RPG gameplay (if that's your preference of course). For example, I love joining the Legion in Morrowind, and being given the most basic Imperial Cuirass, then slowly acquring more/better armor for a full suit. And always having to present oneself in armor to your commanding officers was very cool too.

I agree with this, it'd be too unrealistic

- Return to old system of stats for weapons. Oblivion is a very simplistic version, iron damage 1, forged iron damage 2. A like more damage 2-6, 34-80, variability. Not all iron sword have same damage, depend manufacturing. I like more Iron Axe | Speed 50 | Range 30 | Damage 23-45 | +1 Agility | +13% Fire Damage, for example. Diferent types of objets, normal, magic, special, unique, etc...
- Eliminate system of chargues for magic weapons, sorry but is nor very useful. Is more good see permanent magic features in the weapons, similar to Diablo, Titan Quest, Ultima Online, and all the similar games.
- Improve visual magic. In Oblivion, all magic is same, particles flying around the launcher or the objective. Nothing spectacular, you can not distinguish a spell of another.
- Special moves to stab, Splinter Cell type.
- Chance to steal through threats and extortion.
- The guards did not always know you're wearing something stolen. Let's be serious, it is impossible for a guard know you're wearing something stolen, if not seen you steal.
- Possibility of an evil character with the same potential as a good one.
- I want to steal, kill, hit, threaten, and ultimately, make wrong, without having the feeling I'm playing against the game.
- Use the horse to carry objects.
- Use the horse for battle.
- Combat system similar to Mount & Blade. That have range weapons hit, if hit with the tip of the spear or the club does not do the same damage. The shield, always pairs attacks, worn on the hand or back.
- That you can not instantly change armor, armor change means more time and effort. That this is seen in the game.
- Limitation in weight and volume to transport. It has no logic, anyone can move, carrying two plate armor, in addition to that worn.
- Include more differents weapons. Swords, axes, morning stars, spears, javelins, shortbows, longbows, crossbows, throwing knives, axes droppable, sledge hammers, scimitars, bucklers, shields small, medium shields, tower shields, spears of cavalry, etc...
- Eliminate the system health points. Find another system to the typical, "I am under life, I drink a potion. " This is all I get is that the combat is based on, to see who has more potions of life, not skill and abilities of the warrior. " A good option will be used as other games, localized damage. Chest, left arm, right arm, left leg, etc ... If you get hurt on the left arm can not support the shield, if you get hurt in the leg limp. Is a system that works and is used by games like ArmA, Operation Flashpoint, Red Orchestra, etc. .. And avoid unrealistic based on the method of health points.
- Ability to climb mountains or buildings, especially useful for thieves, murderers, archers...
- Continue...

A lot of the stuff you mentioned is already in (economy, animations), and a lot of the other stuff won't happen (Free running).

"Ability to knock on door"--ADDED

"Possible addiction from using Skooma or other potions too often"--ADDED

"Realistic feeling to the movement"-- ADDED

I've noticed people mentioned climbing a bit, which I think would be great.

(Maybe check my post out if you agree/want to share some opinions and ideas, not trying to steal viewers.) http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1164008-environment-interaction/page__p__17108535#entry17108535

love the list btw, agree with pretty much everything. Be great if bethesda laminated this and tryed to make as much of work as possible. Also, very interested in how armor customisation goes (anyone read the (strangely named) 'piecemental armor' thread? Interesting).

Personally would like to see: Ability to choose (within defined/appropriately determined options) where weapons can be sheathed on your person. EG, do you want two, single-handed blades strapped as an 'X' across your back, and not at your waist? A dagger attached to your boot? Or a skinning knife attached to your jerkin? Etc.) This way you can customise a really bad ass looking mofo, with animations made to draw these weapons out. :toughninja:

"Realistic physics and interaction with objects"--ADDED

"Option to choose weapon placement on body"--ADDED

I'll also add something like "reasonable impact" to the throwing random objects idea..

I Didn't see this in the list so I'll suggest it, if I just didn't see it I apologize.

Not having every single guard in the game know when you commit a crime in one town.

Ex. make it so that you commit a crime in one town, guards in another town don't automatically know you what you did on the other side of Skyrim, have it take time for the word to spread, which can be dependent on severity of the crime & distance to the town.

Realistic guards, without GPS systems--ADDED

GUI - Selectable between the Console version and the PC version for any platform. I'm guessing there are Console players with mouse and keyboard, and PC players with a Console controller.

Freelook - The possibility to look in another direction from the direction of travel, also in 1st person view. See Arma2 how this is done.

Full Body Awareness in 1st person - Look down to see your armor and feet, look behind to see your backpack. See Arma2 how this is done. What you see in 3rd person is precisely what you see in 1st person.

Head Bobbing - At a selectable scale, you can set the amount of head bobbing you want.

Two slots for followers - Can be used for anything; 2 followers, 1 follower and a horse, hand cart, horse and cart, summoned followers (for high level conjurers). Summoned followers will do the best fighting typically but no carrying, humanoid followers does some fighting and some carrying, horse can have some additional carriage space, but a cart will have most carriage space. Allows great flexibility in gameplay style, but there are no ultimate solutions but a player choice.

Crawl stance and 12 speed system - You can't fight during a crawl, but is awesome for sneaking/stalking. Sometimes you may want to crawl into an opening just to get through, like in many normal caves. Walking/low/prone has different speeds for walk, normal, and sprint, plus a further reduced speed (and animation) for crippled limbs like in FONV.

Mounts - Horses where you can upgrade saddle to three options: 1 - Single seat but with saddle bags (additional storage), 2 - Additional seat (double saddle for companion), 3 - Armor mount (horse armor), and 4 - Cart mount (horse and cart). Again player have to make a choice. Mounts are really Really REALLY important. Mounted combat would be nice but not nowhere near as important as mounts themselves.

Needs - Same as in FONV but Rads are obviously replaced, so: Sleep, Food, Water, and Hypothermia (instead of Radiation) control.

Sleep - Rest is needed to restore Magicka and Health (not Health in hard core mode), but how much sleep you need depends on quality of accommodation. Home mansion beds are best, followed by own houses, inns, own camping equipment, other camps, makeshift beddings. Have sleep options: Until rested, until sunrise, until sunset. There should be items like a backpack, where you can store new camping things like bedrolls and tents. Three types of tents: Single (triangular shaped), Double (triangular shaped), and Triple (closed housing), where the Triple one allows two followers to sleep as well.

Food and Water - Direct eating rather than having to open your inventory to find it. If you see an apple, just eat it and get some food and water in your system. Same effects as in FONV if you forget, nothing too serious.

Hypothermia - Many places in Skyrim will be cold, and dealing with it should be an issue. Ambient temperatures vary with day/night cycle, and coldness have multiplication factors with wind (wind chill) and wetness. So you may want to think twice before taking a swim in -5°C while during a storm - making water walking an actual option. Clothes will remain wet for an hour (game time, which is quick) unless you find a heating source. Heat sources may include alcohol (limited time, and is a false sensation, so when effect ends you gather additional damage), hot spring water and geysirs, camp fires, clothes (obviously). Capes provides excellent protection against the multiplicators (wind and wetness), magic stones, torches, going to a hotter area, going indoors.

Weight affects your abilities - Running speeds, jumping heights and lengths, swimming etc are affected by your gear. If you're carrying in at 300 lbs (150 kg), you have to direct most thrust upwards to stay afloat becoming slow. An acrobatic thief jumping high to reach a ledge should be dressed like one, light, rather than have the same ability dressed as a knight. Running, the one that will be felt the most, should have the last 50 lbs as an encumbrance zone where speeds drop to over encumbered speeds gradually instead of suddenly.

I'd like to be able to wear rings on each finger, its realistic. In real life there are people who have rings on every finger and sometimes more than 1 on each finger. Yes you would be overpowered but I'm sure that they could put some kind of restriction on the enchantments of extra rings. Maybe you could put two fully enchanted rings on and the 4 fingers could only wear rings with lesser or petty enchantments.

Many good suggestions there. I have my own but I won't tell. But to be honest, no matter how many good ideas that users post, I hope no game developer will ever let their fans decide how a game is to be. It would only become an incoherent mess... besides, people have different opinion on what a "better mainquest plot" could be. People can see the same thing, but experience it differently (is that even a word?).

Yeah, sure. I can agree upon that. All I'm saying is that the same thing can be percieved differently by different people. But seriously, I think that if the fans have more influence on a developer, the game can only become worse as it will only be a dream for those who are heard. Those who aren't heard, will only be left with a nightmare that conflicts mostly everything they wanted it to be. And if that ever happens, a developer could lose half of their fanbase. The fans will always be somewhat torn in opinions, and letting the developer conclude the game on their own is for the best. But that's just my opinion.

Homer Simpson summed it up nicely:

You know that little ball you put on the aerial so you can find your car in a parking lot? That should be on every car … And some things are so snazzy they never go out of style! Like tail fins! And bubble domes! And shag carpeting! I want a horn here, here and here. You can never find a horn when you're mad. And they should all play 'La Cucaracha.'

It makes me laugh when I read posts that say Oblivion was too bland and non fantasy-like in its scenery, and Shivering Isles was great, so we should make it more fantasy-like in Skyrim. Then two threads later someone says Shivering Isles was too fantasy-like so we should make Skyrim more realistic . . . and everyone just nods their heads in approval. If the devs revised their thinking every time someone on the forums screamed "DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OR I WON'T BUY TEH GAMEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" we'd never play Skyrim because they would be busy adding and deleting the same crap over and over again.

It is, in Winterhold

It wouldn't be that realistic, who really wears a ring on each finger? Also, wouldn't it be disruptive to wielding a weapon and such? If i see another argument for this, I guess i'll add it.
