The Hearthfire Add On had a simple description, Build your own house. Well that's great, several people have been wanting to do this for some time now. Finally the player is allowed to build his or her own house. I went to the area in which was purchased by me in order to build my own house, For me this happen to be Falkreath. As I got to the build site I immediately looked over all the details entailing how to build this house. Its safe to say I was a little more then disappointed. Yes you get to "build" a house. Sadly its a pre-set house that's always going to be the same minus the 3 adjacent rooms you get to pick. Sadly you also can only use 1 of the 3 per side not 1 of the 9 per side. If my memory stands correct I wanted 3 rooms that all happen to be on the same side. I was hoping you'd be able to pick the look of the house, As in Nordic, Orchish, Imperial, Akavirian, Dwemer, etc etc. So many different looks that we should be able to choose from yet we are stuck with the simple. The player should be able to design a banner to fly at the house of the choice the build or perhaps fly an already existing banner from one of the many factions in the game. Along with hiring guards to patrol the grounds bearing shields that also have the same emblem as the banner. The guards also wearing what ever armor and weapons you have picked for them, be it by actually placing it in the pockets or by giving it to them like you would a companion, or possibly by placing it in a chest at the end of each ones bed in a barracks that has to be built also. I have noticed that bandits or giants, even the possible wolf or two that likes to spawn near the house once its built. Wouldn't it make sense that a wall and sentry towers should be able to be built? It doesn't have to be a giant stone brick wall like the many holds of Skyrim. A simple wooden wall like the smaller towns would be plenty. Now a wall would bring about the feeling of safety correct? Would a few shop stalls being set up or a possible Khajiit Caravan camp be a possible option also? Being so the player doesn't have to fast travel multiple times back and forth just to sell things they no longer need. They can deal with everything directly from inside or out of the house they have built. Just a side note, I also noticed the player has to go through more iron ingots then I could possibly count, would be nice if an iron mine would be close to each house. The last thing I really wanted to mention that short of let me down was hoping that the player would be able to buy one of the many castles that dot the land scape of Skyrim. Being able to do that and fix it up just like this house you get to build. Fix the castle up to full working potential, Fully fixed wall, Gates, Guards, Barracks. Sentry towers, Mead hall, Master room, Library, Magical room (enchanter, alchemy table), etc etc.
I think this would have been a more acceptable Hearthfire Download.
If i think of anything else that I happen to not remember while typing this I'll post it here also in this thread.
