What was the budget for this game?

How much did it cost in total including marketing and what not? Does anyone have the 411 on this?

Yea, Bethesda knows. It's not like they've shared how much has gone into the game with their fans.

A lot. MGSV had around 80 milion, just think about how much money Bethesda has got over the years.

Can't imagine that's an easy number to narrow down. On top of official project budgets there's all the operations stuff Beth incurs simply by existing.

I'd say at least 60 million, probably closer to 80 million. that's about the going rate for a AAA title now a days.

Are you sure? I mean, I'm a potato farmer. There's lots of money in that.

EDIT: *cough*

Bethesda is a privately owned company and has no obligation to share financials with anyone.

The number that made Konami squeal on MGS 5, and say "Not another penny (Japanese equivalent) for development - ship it!" was about $80 million.

Think how great the game would have been if they had finished it!

300 boo-ku's. Would have been 290 boo-ku's but they just had to add voice acting for the PC.

I was trying to prove a pint to someone in the steam forums about the price change in other countries and how the business model works for this game. This game has been worked on for years so I imagine the budget was astronomical.

Yeah. Would have been really nice if they had at least finished the main story, but they cut the final mission (the one that all the events of the second half of the game were leading to, and it's absence leaves a whole bunch of plot threads just hanging there).

At least they polished up everything else, but I'm still unhappy about that. It would be like if Fallout 3 just... stopped right before they got Liberty Prime operational, with no explanation as to why - you give the people working on it the final component and then fade to black and credits. That's how MGSV ends:/

EDIT: Admittedly there's a bit more emotion there, but it ends after a random cutscene that's very obviously not intended to be the end of the game.

They also kept the epilogue mission in the game, so the game just goes 'penultimate mission -> epilogue' without having the actual climix or anything like it.
