What was your favorite information from the Game Informer ar

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 9:15 pm

So, as I'm sure most of you know, there have been some mixed feelings and reactions about the info on Skyrim. I personally loved almost everything I read in that article, and I am looking forward to the game.

My question is this: If there's one feature in the article that made you most excited about the upcoming game, what was it?

If possible, try to limit it down to one thing only. And please, only mention what you liked about the article, not what you hated. :toughninja:

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to add, what interested me most from that article has got to be the new skill system. Seems like something extremely unique.

So im guessing its out then. i dont subscribe anymore so could i go into gamestop and buy it off the rack?

but i got my hands on some info anyway...im personally excited for this weapon creation system that was mentioned. it either needs to be detailed enough to make your own weapons feel unique to you (which i doubt it will be), or very simple and streamlined. either way im looking forward to reading more about that

The new leveling system(not level scale!).

I anticipating this the most and how it will work, and if it will be successful.

@Bornred, yes you can but might take a couple of days for them to recieve it.

The new skills/leveling system has me really intrigued. I want to see how it will work. I wouldn't say it's the thing I'm most excited about from the article, but it's certainly the one that has me dying to know more/specifics.

I haven't actually read the article, but I've liked pretty much everything that I've heard on these forums. I'm not going to get my hopes up for the radiant AI, though.

I pretty much like everything I heard. But if I had to pick one, I would like to pick combat improvements but I haven't seen it in action. So without seeing any action, there is only one thing I can say I am most happy with:

Hudless first person gameplay.

Many aspects for me; I can't choose what I liked the most:
-Characters can now sprint by expending stamina.
-Serious dragon combat as dragonborn.
-You can drop a weapon and someone might pick it up and tell you that you droppped it and if you wanted it, drop it and it may lie there in the mud over time, also 2 men might fight over it to see who gets to take it home.
-Entering a city a woman might appraoch you and tell you that her child was kidnapped and will ask you to save him/her.
-"Your version of Skyrim will be built to your specific playing style."
-Ice Wraiths, I thought they looked awesome, very unique enemies.
-Radiant storytelling to where the quests you do is specific to who you are and what you've done.
-"The game watche everything you do. What skills have you improved? What places have you visited? Who have you killed? What weapons do you own? Which figures in the world are your friends? Who are your enemies?"
-Conversations are no longer in a zoomed-in fashion. "Approach an NPC, and a converse will pop up. As they speak to you, the AI-controlled character will move about, occasionally looking at you, or turn away to continue a task like woodcutting or minding a counter."
-Much more voice acting.
-More activities to do in cities such as forging a sword. Makes me wonder if it will be something like Dark Messiah's forging. Also mining, cooking, or woodworking to get away from life-and-death adventuring.
-The menu is just too awesome. It has 4 pointed compass, Skills, Inventory, Map, and Magic. "Push up to skills and your eyes look up to the skies above, where constellations above Skyrim skimmer above Skyrim" "Press right and reach into your inventory Weapons and Armor are organized, and any one of them can be marked as a favorite" "Books appear three-dimensional" Push left for spells, 85 total. Push down and your character looks at a map :D

Ambiance (the variety of environments shown in the screenshots from deciduous and coniferous forests to icy wastelands, along with the mention of 7000 steps to High Hrothgar).

I like the new leveling system information. I absolutely HATE Morrowind and Oblivion's attribute multiplayer system.

In a tight heat, Radiant Story ekes out a slim victory over the leveling system and the introduction of smithing/woodcutting/etc.

Though I must withhold true giddiness because I still need to learn much, much more about Radiant Story before I can determine if it will indeed meet the description and my own preconceptions... Out of everything, it's the aspect with the most hinging on it!

Tough question... To be honest I loved everything I read. Seems almost like BGS read my mind. But if I had to choose, I'd say the improved visuals. I'm not a graphics ***** or anything, but the faces and draw distance of Oblivion really annoyed me at times. Dragons would be a close second; I do love me some dragons.

two things for me that are tied.

shadows.....not much to say about that. games without shadows just look stupid nowadays.

not being able to cast magic while holding weapons and shields in both hands. they sorta brought back morrowind stance system which i really missed in oblivion.

"Snow now falls dynamically. Trees are more detailed (and they have fixed branches and leaves). Wind is used to determine the flow of water and the direction in which leaves point. Also, there are now dynamic shadows."

and

"There is now more to do in cities, including cooking, farming, mining, woodcutting and blacksmithing,"

Oh, yeah, I forgot. Apparently cities are now in the same worldspace as the environment, which is awesome.

I can't decide between it all. It all is amazing. If I had to choose one, it was the fact that Bethesda said the combat in Skyrim was brutal, which to me says every fight will be entertaining and possibly challenging (please be more challenging than Morrowind!).
