What was your first gaming system?

Post » Sat Jul 03, 2010 4:15 am

First thing I ever played games on was my family's first computer. Something with windows 3.1. Then again, that was more watching my dad play flight sims. Because there was no way in hell I was allowed to touch a piece of technology like that. I wasn't even allowed in the room unless one of my parents was in there.

I got a SNES handed down from my cousin after the N64 had been out for a while.

My first gaming system was the NES. I was like 5 years old when I first got it and the first game I played was duck hunt or was it super mario... They had mario and duckhunt on the same cartridge. My aunt sent us the NES and it came with 2 controller and the gun. My first gaming PC? Well it was an IBM Tandy I don't know which model it was, it was in color. Then eventually we got a windows 3.11 machine which my uncle built for us. My uncle had a section of the hard drive passworded, but I overheard my parents talk about it and I used to go into dos and play this Pin ball game with a woman in a bikini as the background. Don't know why that was passworded off :P dir/w *Sniff* my first dos command, I made my parents so proud!

I think IBM Tandy was DOS based if I remembered correctly... Or the commands were similar to dos.

HA! I remember those I used those when I was in elementary school! The 5 1/2 floppy disk. Used to play Oregon Trail on those when I was in elementary school. I used to stay after school and hang out in the computer lab. My computer teacher had a game loaded up on one, I was confused on how to play I didn't understand why the arrow keys didn't work. She taught me how to use WASD to play a computer game.

I got a Vic20 for Xmas - coveted my friend's Atari 2600 but soon learned how to make the word

"hello" "hello" "hello" "hello" "hello" "hello" "hello" "hello" "hello" "hello"

flow across the screen in different colors thanks to the magic of BASIC

eventually learned how to write my own BASIC text adventure games.

still wanted an Atari

Same here, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for Commodore BASIC.

First computer I gamed on was an Apple ][+

First handheld "game system" I had was a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microvision (pretty primitive, but it did have cartridges :D)

First console I actually owned (instead of borrowing from a friend or playing at their place) was a PS1.

Luigi is the [censored]! I always liked Luigi more because he was green.

That's awesome, one time I talked my mom into playing test drive 6 on the playstation 1 and she was crashing into everything and laughing hysterically. She really svcked at that game LOL but she had fun.

Atari Super Pong, when I was a wee one, we could actually play Pong FOUR different ways! :P After that, we had Intellivision, but I would play an Atari system when I would babysit. (At their house)
