A Dragon 32 (essentially the same as a Tandy Colour Computer, to all intents and purposes). My neighbour had the same before upgrading to an Amstrad CPC464, which was much better (hmm, not often you see "Amstrad" and "much better" in the same sentence!)

Wow, this thread is gonna make me feel...young :P I first started playing on a Sega Saturn at my grandparents house when I was like 7 or 8, wasnt really hardcoe into gaming, it was just something to do when I couldnt play with the neighbor girl. Then I got an N64 for Christmas before my 10th birthday and I discovered a love of video games that has never left me :D

So I don't know which you consider my first, first video game I played was Sega Saturn, but first owned home system was N64.

NES with Contra, Duck Hunt, Mario and The Legend of Zelda. My dad bought it before I was born using money he and my mom got as a wedding gift.

Aside from Contra I didn't play it much. I was a Sega Genesis kid. :P

Atari was my first. I've owned every console since then at one point or another. Right now I have a SNES, PS2, 360, and PS3.

It was either an NES or an Atari. I think the NES might've come first and we got the Atari secondhand, since I remember seeing it when I was a little bit older. I know we also had an SNES, but I don't remember when we got it because the NES and the SNES were there from the time I could remember, which was about the age of three.

The first gaming system I had that was just mine was a Gameboy brick. I got it when I was four or something (and now I balk at kids who have DSes from a young age, but mine was secondhand). The only game I had on it was Tetris and I kept pressing the up button to fill the screen with bricks because I thought the game over sound was funny. We rented a Legend of Zelda game for it once. It was the Gameboy version of A Link to the Past, I believe. I was obsessed with the SNES version, so I 'played' it quite a bit and we kept renting it. Then my dad took the Gameboy with him to Los Angeles for his work once and it was stolen.

The first one I actually owned was a Commodore 64, and that wasn't until I was 8. Later I got the http://faculty.indwes.edu/bcupp/Things/Commodore/Dataset.gif, and then I had to beg to get http://blogsdelagente.com/blogfiles/aquellosviejos8bits/commodore1541.jpg. My parents wouldn't buy me a console, which was fine, since the C64 had better games than the consoles of the time, IMO.

After that,
Sega Master System, NES, Genesis (Mega Drive), TurboGrafx 16, PC, PC, PC, PC, PS2, PC, PC, PC, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, PC, PC, PC

Probably missing a few "PC" entries in there...

Mine looked like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Atari-2600-Wood-4Sw-Set.jpg. I think it was around 1980...give or take a couple of years. My first game played on it was Pong.

Gameboy Color I believe was mine, unless you count the N64 I played at my friends house when I was 6.

I started back around 5 years old with a big honkin' 286 computer. My first games were Mixed up Mother Goose and Zaxxon.

My first consoley item came years later - a Gameboy.

The only other console I've owned since is a Wii (unless you count the Android Phone). Went through a few (6?) PCs over my lifetime, though. So you could certainly call me PC-centric.

when i was brought into this world, i was immediately handed down the NES that my parents got. But my first ever console actually given to me was on a nice cool christmas morning and it was the N64 that came with pod racers. still own it and play it all the time.

Commodore 64. We had Commodore Pets at school before that, and I remember using one of these as a random number generator, though rolling a die would have been a lot quicker :
