Or just imagine getting discovered as using a disguise behind enemy lines, no one expects an operative to whip out a minigun or an auto-shotty.
Damn it, I thought I was the only person who had though of that >_>

Even if the idea is on the table, I still don't think that anyone expects the noob heavy that's going the wrong way to paint the walls with your brains using an auto-shotty.

I think that even though this idea is out there, or at least here, it will still be something that no one expects. A HeavyOp, the first time one kills me I'm going to laugh for the entire game.

the lightest, fastest build i can do with a gun with respectable burst damage at close range. Not a big fan of assault rifles and smg's; but if i could use like a 2 shot shotgun or grenade launcher as a light, thats the way i'd go.

Sadly, it seems that your choices with a Light player are limited to SMG or Short Rifle as your main weapon, and then a pistol of some form as your secondary. I would assume that the SMGs are varied though, so you would have the choice between a somewhat accurate weapon or something that shoots a wall of lead in a general direction, great for close range.

I'm really waiting for a better look at the Light rifles, I want to see more of what they can do.

if they don't have a shotgun or grenade option, i'm hopeful for light they'll have some type of weapon with a very short clip or a very long time between individual shots that will enable me to do a high amount of damage in a short time. if not, i guess i'd have to go medium.

If you want to make each shot count, I think short rifles are more up your alley. Semi-Automatic rifles are typically power houses, but are avoided by most because you have to make just about every shot land before they become effective. And they come with the added benefit of being more accurate than most weapons in the game.

And mind you, Atavax, since you're new, the short rifles do not do one-hit killshots. It just want to nip that question in the bud right now, there's been enough debate about it. :3

i'm only new to the forums, been following the game awhile; and i love that short rifles aren't doing one hit kills.... when there are a lot of one hit kills, the game becomes less about shooting, and more about tactics because you can't afford the other guy getting the first shot off because it could kill you. in games where it almost always takes more then 1 shot to kill like tf2, you can get ambushed from the back and easily kill the guy through superior play after the first shot in the battle. Tactics are obviously still important because the person that flanks the other has a significant advantage, but it leaves room for shooting skills in the game.

Alright man, sorry to jump the gun then. It's what happens when you anticipate reactions, my fault.

Your engineer would work, but your soldier wouldn't. The Soldier has to have a heavy weapon (minigun, grenade launcher, automatic shotgun) and a medium weapon (assault rifle, shotgun).

I'll dabble in a bit of everything, but probably end up playing a heavy with minigun in any class.

A generalist heavy, eh? An interesting combination. This decision intrigues me...looks like we'll have to call in the experts...

Your engineer would work, but your soldier wouldn't. The Soldier has to have a heavy weapon (minigun, grenade launcher, automatic shotgun) and a medium weapon (assault rifle, shotgun).

Well, he COULD use lesser weapons, but part of the advantage to being a heavy is superior firepower.

Can he? I always thought they were forced to use that weapon class...although I don't see why they wouldn't let you use a lesser weapon...you're only hurting yourself, I guess.

Of course they can. It would be counterproductive to force someone into using a certain weapon.

Hence why heavies in Dystopia are rare to be seen. They can only use dedicated weapons (well, actually all bodytypes in Dystopia do), which aren't very popular.

I'll admit, that really bummed me out about that game...that and the fact the heavies have the least room for augmentations, although I think that decision helps balance Dystopia.
