What weapons?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:55 pm

This is where i want to see what new types you guys want back or in Skyrim.

Trap :
Stealth oriented. Used as a way to slow down, paralyze, ect.

Guns :
Marksmen will enjoy this instead of the same ol' bow and arrow.

Dual Wielding :
Used for or by anyone. I think also for a weapons skill of 100(master) you can dual wield 2-handed weapons.

Wands :
Magic oriented. Used to cast elemental spells. It will give a magic user something to cast while there magika regenerates. (the spells of the wand are far weaker than an original cast so its not over powered.

Spell books :
Magic oriented. Can be help in off hand while using a dagger, mace, etc. This can also be used to enhance spell casting speeds.

Fist Weapons :
Melee oriented. Just a new weapon to use.

Your opinions?

guns nope never wont happen. seriously

i really dont want any of these not going to lie your trying to turn TES into a Fable/D and D/ high fantasy hybrid, TES has never done any of these things because to be honest they dont fit the lore or the feel of the game

If there is two-weapon fighting it should not involve ever being able to wield two-handed weapons. One-handed weapons in the main hand, daggers or hatchets in the off hand.

Imo they should be able to. I mean if your at master in your axe skill don't you think you'd be strong enough to handle 2x 2-handed axes? i mean it could be like a berserker type of thing.

Well, i tryed. If no one wants it the poll will show it. I want to see traps so badly. I mean seriously theres traps in game but we cant set any and also we need already made traps at our disposal. Archers or bow users would have a happier time running away and kiting foes. :toughninja:

Each sword would just get in the way of the other, you wouldn't be able to get good leverage, it would look stupid. Seriously, if masters of fighting could do this effectively then surely there would be records of it, but there are not. You would just be killed. (I am referring to real history here, not TES lore).

traps would be an interesting implementation thats to be sure the problem comes with them being persistent or not (ie what happens when you leave the cell?) and how that effects NPC schedule's and what not

People don't want guns
People also don't want a crossbow that can quickly fire several arrows continuosly at once that was made 1500 years before the 1st gun... although they were a bit more open to it than guns .-.

Doubtful; I would not consider the Nord to be that technological advance. Heck, after the Oblivion Crisis, the whole land went Dark Age on us. There no progress all on a stale water pond. The only race that might even have such knowledge of technology forfeit their lives to become a skin of a golem god.

That say, no guns, ever. Not part of how the overall game/style/feeling runs for the Elder Scroll. Better chances if ya just ask for a Crossbow. They are lore friendly.

I wouldn't mind seeing some claw gauntlets (kinda like Wolverine from X-Men) or brass knuckles for H2H weapons.

Traps would be cool.

Fist weapons would be ok with me if they changed up the way unarmed combat worked. I would rather have martial arts style combat instead though. Anything other than punch-punch-attempt to block-repeat until you die would be good at this point.

Dual wielding would be ok too, but I really don't think you should be able to dual wield 2H weapons. It's horribly unrealistic, and I can see it being really overpowered. At most, I could see a longsword in one hand and a shortsword in the other, with the shortsword being used for parries and quick strikes.

You're kidding me, people actually voted "none"? As in, no weapons of any kind? Well at least nobody voted guns. I like wands and dual wielding. They had wands in Daggerfall but they were just miscellaneous items.

The "none" option was for no new weapons added to skyrim. But, i didnt specify that sorry :hubbahubba: . Wands would make a great way to keep consistent damage as a mage while regenerating magika.

Oh.
Well personally, my character would use a staff instead of a wand. It looks cooler and I think a staff would help to channel magic better than a wand. But wands would be cool and easy to make as far as development. It's just a stick basically.

No guns IMO....

Dual-wielding would be cool if they could get it to work properly as something special, but I'd prefer seeing one-weapon fighting having an improved interface than just adding dual-wielding to the box of functional moves...

All of the others would be cool with me. I would actually also like to see spears back (no, not Britney, as they were ind Morrowind), and the morning star with a chain on it like they were in Daggerfall - they were cool :flamethrower:

Traps, dual wielding, wands, spellbooks and fist weapons.

Other: Crossbows, throwing weapons, spears and other polearms.

And no guns.

of these, traps and dual wielding are the most important to me. I remember back with oblivion people were wanting dual wielding real bad. We didn't get it back then, so I'm hopingfor it now :)

Traps: Too large and impractical to set up, also if they are added they need to be heavy, a bear trap can be really heavy so the kind of characters I imagine would use them (stealth based ones) would likely not use them much seeing how they rarely have a lot of strength and they would be heavy.

Guns: NO! I shouldn′t even have to explain why.

Dual wielding: I don′t see why not, should come with some minuses though, like reduced damage if you dual wield.

Wands: This is not Harry Potter, this is TES and we have plenty of scrolls and staffs (also about magicka we got potions and in Oblivion we even regenerate it)

Spell books: I don′t like this idea, I mean we got scrolls and they work a certain way, those spell books sound like they could be anything with an enchant on it, like a shield, I′m all up for there being a bonus to casting spells like 10% stronger spells if you have nothing in your left hand though.

Fist weapons: Would be a first for TES and some may dislike it since they just wanna use their fists, personally I′m all up for it, but I do really like to hit stuff with my bare fists though, the possibility of two new enchant slots sound nice though, like you can enchant your sword and shield already but if you use fists you are gimped in that area.

I only voted for dual wielding and fist weapons.

I would simply like daggers to be a little bit more usefull, and some nicer bows. Dual wielding with one main weapon and a smaller dagger/ hatchet sounds good though.

As previously stated, most important are spears. They were historically the most important melee weapons of the battlefields in many time periods in their different forms (from a simple spear, over heavy polearms like the halberd to pikes, or even the bayonets that are sometimes still used today), and the normal spear also is a very typical "viking" weapon that'd fit very well in the setting of Skyrim.

Using two weapons (Rapier and dagger or two rapiers) is a very modern technique, though I find that it'd fit the Redguards to have one slender blade and a second one for parrying instead of a shield - resulting in fast, elegant combat, with the main weakness being lack of damage output to penetrate medium and heavy armor and the inability to block arrows like with a shield.

Traps are an interesting idea, I think I'll support that one.
