I for one am playing the first Fallout and thoroughly enjoying it. The only downside is that trying to find a lead to the water chip is incredibly obtuse combined that with being on a timer takes some fun out of the game. Not to mention the seemingly myriad of red herrings the game throws at you. When all you really need to do is find the BoS base to get on the right track. Problem is nobody I talked to in the Hub said anything of the sort, hell the damn water merchants told me to go to necropolis, where all I found was some cranky ghoul.
Jagartharn: I went from Vault 13--> Shady Sands --> Vault 15 ---> Shady Sands --> Junktown ---> Hub ---> Necropolis --- Vault 13. Water chip was done.
You actually learn at the Hub that Necropolis is actually based outta an old vault. Several people in the Hub indicate as such and in your briefing you are told that 'other vaults' would be a good place to start. We also know that the Ghouls have their own water supply Which to me at least implied they had a Waterchip. Its actually fairly easy to get theirs if you fix their Waterpump with some repair skill use. Then they let you take the chip. After that its straight home to find out you need to hunt down the mutant menace. After that no more time limit.
If you wait too long before you go to the Necropolis you will find the Mutants have killed everyone.
Defend your mother base...
Just saying... because I'm watching you, brah.
*crawls under box and sneaks away*
Okay I never played Metal Gear so I have to ask this. What is the deal with the cardboard box? Why don't the enemies find it weird there is a random cardboard box just there for no reason?
The cardboard box was an item used for concealment in past MGS game, and was often used for transport between areas, as one could hide in a box, jump on a truck, and the truck driver would think he has a delivery, and so would take you somewhere.
Also, NPCs DO find it odd when boxes are just in the middle of the hallway, or out in the open, and they will come and pick the box off of you while investigating.
Oh so it's better then I thought.
So do anyone recommend playing through the Metal Gear Series? If so were to start?
The Metal Gear games are great, one of my favorite series ever, alongside Half Life and TES.
You should probably start with Metal Gear Solid 1, then go in order from there. You dont really need to play the side games Metal Gear Rising, or Portable Ops to get the plot though. Rising is still fun for what it is however.
One thing though, is that they LOVE conspiracies, and get really convoluted with the conspiracies the further you get along. Don't try to think too hard about it, or else it will just seem more confusing then it is. also, most of them cant be played on Pc, so bust out those playstations.
Always recommend the Metal Gear Solid series. Great games. I got The Legacy Collection, which had all of them from the original Metal Gear all the way to Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots. It was only $60 for something like 7 games, so it was well worth in my opinion.
On topic, I'm planning on starting some new games, playing some more Star Wars the Old Republic, reading, working, chasing girls, the usual.
Now that I think about, not anything different from normal really.
well mad max comes out september 1 so that should tide us over until november 10-11
Why play Fallout 2 when you can play Fallout 1?
plenty of other good games
BUT
at day - 3 i will make sure my fridge is fully stocjed with drinks and snacks , make sure i got plenty od clean undrwear for atleast a week , make sure i have the correct telephone numbers for the pieea delivery ,
I've been playing ESO. While I'll still keep my ESO account when FO4 comes out, I'll drop my sub to it, and come on to feed horses, collect mail, and play once a week for a few hours. I expect alot of ESO playing Fallout fans will be doing something along those lines.
It did a bit, to be fair, maybe a better term for it than political correctness but you know what he means, I'm sure.
I've been playing Fallout: New Vegas and just finished all the DLCs for the first time (Old World Blues was hilarious if a bit repetative, Lonesome Road was boring as hell, Dead Money had interesting new mechanics but not much to make me want to -ever- go back, and the one in Zion was a nice big new area but nothing too exciting). Now that I'm done with those, I'm back to the main New Vegas storyline (at level 56, thanks, mods) and quickly burning through the remaining quests.
Frankly, I worry that I may be burning out on Fallout. Since I ~am~ almost finished with it, it may be a good time to take a break from Fallout and play some other games (Skyforge, SWTOR, Defiance, ESO, Champions Online, or maybe old single player games I never finished like Rage, Red Faction, etc). Of course, as November approaches, I may find myself drawn back to Fallout-3 or New Vegas, just to get a taste... just a taste, baby, then I can quit.... just one more...
Er., where was I? Oh, yeh, avoiding Fallout burn-out.
I was play F:NV last night and got myself stuck in a nasty emerge from Cave/ Get mauled by Deathclaws moment. It was the cave just past Nipton on the way to Novac and I had completly forgotten what was in the cave, quickly exiting to find some Deathclaws had spawned out front. Had to go back to an earlier save as Im extremely unprepared for that.
What I find interesting is the amount of indi games coming up that are post apoc. I dont know if the developers are starting to feel the waves of anticipation coming outta Fallout but its certainly seeming that way.
I've never played even a second of an Uncharted game and the whole series comes out for PS4 in early October so I'll probably pick that up. Plus I still need to finish the Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition
What to do while waiting for Fallout 4?
Suggested techniques for the Marine to use in the absence of Fallout 4: mastvrbation. Rereading of letters from unfaithful wives and girlfriends. Cleaning your rifle. Further mastvrbation. Rewiring Walkman. Arguing about religion and meaning of life. Discussing in detail, every woman the Marine has ever ******. Debating differences, such as Cuban vs. Mexican, Harleys vs. Hondas, left- vs. right-handed mastvrbation. Further cleaning of rifle. Studying of Filipino mail order bride catalogue. Further mastvrbation. Planning of Marine's first meal on return home. Imagining what the Marine's girlfriend and her man, Jody, are doing in the hay, or in the alley, or in a hotel bed.
Or, clear my backlog as quickly as possible. Just like I should be doing but keep getting sidetracked.
