It doesn't matter, hardware is the same no matter what OS you're running.

Oh. that's another matter. Vista, and Win7, have a 'security' protocol named "User Account Control". What it does is make it REALLY difficult to alter files/programs that are installed to the Program Files directory. An easy way to avoid any such problems is, simply don't install the game there. Put it someplace like C:\Games\Oblivion, and all of those issues disappear.

Is my PC a good one anyway? What i'm asking is, will I have to upgrade it alot for other games and for Skyrim? Now, I know the Specs haven't been released for Skyrim but I'd imagine they won't be too different than Oblivion and, mabye some of ye may have ideas? Thanks.

With the upgrades suggested in this thread, you should be able to play skyrim as well. I have seen some 'possible' system requirements, but, nothing official that I am aware of. I am hoping that whatever new engine they are using, will be more efficient that the one they have been using....... LOTS of room for improvement there. (and we have been whining about it for a while too. :D)

Wow, thats great news! And man you are fast to reply, lol. Thanks a million, now all I have to do is learn to install mods, which will be a bit of a challange for someone as "Computer stuff-inclined" as me, lol.
Also, I know this is in the wrong place but you seem well informed on these things so...
If I get Winrar must I also get 7Zip and OBMM
Thanks.

7zip will do everything winrar will, and 7zip has the advantage of being free. :D OBMM is a VERY useful tool, as is Wrye Bash. Gonna need to learn to use each, for what it is best at. :D

You can get Wrye Bash and OBMM together? But don't they do the same thing?

There is some overlap, but, OBMM will install OMODs, which makes doing things like UI mods MUCH easier...... Wrye Bash is an extremely powerful tool for convincing large numbers of mods to play nice together, and is absolutely required for some mod combinations. (FCOM being right up there on the list.)

OK I'll get them all so. Do you know anywhere I could learn to download mods for a PC like mine because I don't understand the walkthrough in the mods forum? Thanks.

Can I ask you if you require the script extenders? Thanks.

Require for what? OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) adds a GREAT deal of functionality to the oblivion scripting engine. It isn't required for any of the utilities to install/use mods. A fair few Mods require it though, as the base scripting engine just isn't powerful enough to do some of the tricks they need. Any mod that requires OBSE in order to function, will say so in the readme. (and probably also have a link to the site you download it from.)

I won't play without it, too many mods that I just love require it.

Most definitely! The best mods out there all require it, you're just going to end up with alot of mediocre and minor mods if you don't have it. As for Wrye Bash, you can easily skip that at first. I've been playing Oblivion with mods for years, and I still have no use for it. It has some good features but it's certainly not essential. It can be a bit confusing trying to figure out how to use it, so don't worry about passing that one over for awhile.
