What will happen to the Dragonborn with the next TES?

Post » Fri Aug 08, 2014 5:25 pm

I've been wondering.

Is it likely the Dragonborn will disappear much like the Hero of Kvatch or the Nerevine?

Will the Dragonborn go into Apocrypha and serve Hermaous Mora the way Miraak did or go to Sovngarde? These two stories conflict and confuses me because we play through 2 main storylines. So should I presume the Dragonborn now belongs to Herma Mora since he replaced Miraak?

Should I presume that the Dragonborn now belongs to Hermaous Mora for an eternity of servitude ; the way the Hero of Kvatch became New Sheogorath?

I'm just wondering what happens to our personal character when the next TES comes out for the newer consoles.

What should I expect to be said in the lore?

probably be a distance memory that will likely not be referenced. same with the civil war. After all so many of us played the game differently.

This isn't Mass Effect. What you did in Skyrim won't matter in the next TES game.

I am curious though to see what they will do.

There's probably going to be rumors that the DB either hangs out in Apocrypha, or he went to Atmora or something.

That's probably what you'll hear, but they'll just be rumors. You ultimately decide what became of your Dragonborn.

That's probably what we will hear in the next game. I would like to hear eventually of what happened with the Nerevarine.

Say, when he threw Lorkhan's heart in the magma, didn't he become like the Tribunal in a way? I mean, he was pretty much already immortal after having his/ her corpus altered, and those with corpus are like vampires or the undead. So that means, he/ she is still living or is now a god since he/ she touched that heart with the tools......I think maybe?

We didn't replace Miraak. We removed him. Both Neloth and Frea conclude at the end that we are not under Mora's permanent influence the way Miraak was. But Frea hints that the possibility of falling under it is still there.
In future games, we'll most likely hear references of the last Dragonborn popping up in Skyrim and defeating Alduin, and the Dragons, but we won't likely ever get a definitive answer on what became of our hero after that. If the next game takes place close to the same time (like Morrowind to Oblivion), then they may have to make up an excuse for the Dragonborn not to still be kicking, like with the rumors of the Nerevarine going to Akavir.

I doubt we'll hear anything about him going to Apocrypha though. Nobody outside of Neloth and some Skaal even are aware of his relation to it.

He's gonna travel to Akavir for no explainable reason.

Hopefully not. But considering the next game is likely going to be soon after Skyrim timeline-wise, I'm expecting something like this to happen again.

Yup. I only assume it'll be pretty close because of the Dominion conflict. I feel like the next Great War will take place in-game. Unless the war doesn't happen, or is kept between games, the devs will have to do something to get rid of the Dragonborn to explain why we didn't come south and play a role in it.

No solid information. More of an assumption based on the current state of Nirn. The first four games all took place at the end of the Septim dynasty, under the same Emperor, and then we had a huge jump to a new period with Skyrim. A period in which Tamriel is full of juicy conflicts and characters. It would be a massive waste to briefly view it all trough the window of Skyrim and them jump anther hundred or so years and leave it all behind. I think the Dominion conflict is central in the series now, and with all the issues around Tamriel that they and the Empire have created, we have a lot of things left to do in this very interesting period of the 4th era. I think Skyrim was the start of another series of games based in the same period, just like Arena-Oblivion.

That is an interesting take on it. I can favor this theory.

The legend is that the immortal Nerevarine went to Akavir, or something like that.

Although I'm not sure if that's what's considered canon, or fans made it up.

It's considered in-game rumor. It is one of the random gossip lines that the NPCs in Oblivion may say when chatting.

So if we really learned of what happened to either the Nerevarine, or the Hero of Kvatch, or something on the Dragonborn....

Which ultimately lead to a choice we wouldn't want for our character in general. ( Example being: Your version of the Dragonborn becamse a Vampire Lord and did horrible things)

Yet Bethesda states in the next game that the Dragonborn joins the Dawnguard and kills off the vampires , kills the Dark Brotherhood, and restores the Empire... so on and so forth

Is it possible that statement would defeat the purpose of the everyone's personal custom made character?

So I should assume that Bethesda will never really say anything of what actually did happen in Morrowind or in Oblivion, and should expect the same for Skyrim.

Pretty much. For the most part it seems Beth has avoided giving each protagonist a definite fate and only drop very vague and dubious hints.

Otherwise, I question why they would give us the choice in the first place if they're going to go and make the decision for us.

I imagine there will be some vague reference to the Dragonborn in some random book that you find in the next game, not much else.

Yeah... I'm sure we'll see something like this.

opens up a book and reads a really vague sentence, " The Dragonborn slayed Alduin, the world eater....and saved Tamriel.....all hail the Dragonborn"

I gotta say, it would be kinda awesome to come back as your character with a whole bunch of Dragons in tow to kick the Reapers Thalmors ass.

Like all past protagonists he/she will be forgotten. I mean at least the Nerevarine and the COC have been mentioned. The champions of Arena and Daggerfall have fallen into obscurity.

Not sure about daggerfall but im fairly certain the hero of arena is mentioned in passing when referencing septim vii . I've seen it either in a book or in the loading screen. Although nothing in depth.

Pretty much every Dragonborn of mine has wished to die killing as many Thalmor as possible, going out in a blaze of glory knee deep in Thalmor dead,

The more magically inclined of my player characters in any TES game plan to live forever of course, but taking out hundreds of Thalmor in a climatic battle is still a pretty good way to go. The Thalmor is pretty much the only group you're forced to hate in Skyrim, and I can only hope that the canoical ending of the Dragonborn is a warriors death, as he passes into myth and legend like many others before him.

To be honest though, we'll likely get something much like a expedition to Akavir that quietly removes the almighty player character from the balance of power on Nirn. Or hell, the Nerevarine is immortal, and with Vvardenfel being one of the most fondly remebered worlds of Bethesdas creation, he might just make another appearance outside of the Dragonborn DLC stuff that ive heard.
