What will the "cannon" ending of Fallout : New Vegas

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:49 pm

Bethesda should give up on writing any story lines, they always do them wrong.

There's no canon ending for Fallout 3, so there wouldn't necessarily have to be one for NV.

Well there was only one ending possible for FO3. Not like you could help the enclave take over the CW or anything like that.

Ever notice they didn't actually write much of the storyline?

They basically copy-pasted together bits from Tactics and FO:BoS.

Actually it was more like Fallout 1 & 2..

The plot anyways.

What you ARE in that game is similar to BoS and Tactics though.

I think I heard somewhere that they'll use the achievement tracking and whichever one is the most numerous becomes the "canon" ending. I also heard that currently it's Indie.

I don't know, because I heard a rumor (may not be true mind you) Bethesda halted Obsidians attempt to use the Grand Canyon and Arizona, saying that it's going to be used in a later game or something along those lines.

I'm quite sure it's false because ultimately Bethesda has the franchise ownership rights. If Obsidian made such a move that Beth didn't like, Beth would have quashed it in the early design phases.

I personally think with the big NCR biasedness in the game that will be the canon ending. Although I wish it would be House. If they actually completed his storyline they would realize his Mojave is miles above anything else. He basically treats everyone much more fairly then every other ending slideshow I've seen (all of them).

I think it should be the NCR. I dont know why, I think it should just be that. I cannot explain why? Its just unlikely that the Independent way could happen, and siding with House just does not seem to make it keep the same post-apocalyptic feel of Fallout (especially since he says he will put people on the moon and space and stuff). I could see CL happening but I dunno it just does not seem right.

But does naybody actually knwo what they are making the "canon" ending? Has Bethesda said what they intend to make it?

We wait until the sequel, If they make mention about an event about New Vegas and say who won, They won.

NCR is the least likely, They've expanded a bit to much, Time for a new faction.

I think it will be anyone but the NCR because if the NCR gets anymore powerful then almost every new fallout game will be the NCR conquering another place until they own all of america and then there will be no more fallout games because there wouldn't be anymore factions left.

The NCR is the least likely in fact, they have a lot of protagonism in both FO2 and FONV, its time that some new faction have their first epic success

The cannon ending(s) of Fallout 1 was a good karmic Vault Dweller evident by his statue in ShadySands. For Fallout 2 we only have bits in peaces he traveled with Marcus and John Cassady both good karma companions so its likely he was a hero as well.
So by that logical conclusion Fallout 3's lone wanderer cannon would also be a good karmic character. [as in he didn't infect the water with FEV or blow up Citadel] There is more then one ending to Fallout 3 duh.

But for new vegas there isn't a clear cut good-side. The NCR, House and Yes Man! all have their benefits and drawbacks.

I'd like to see the rise of the yes man in place of mister house, or even Mr House somehow merging with the yes man ? I like the idea of the machines as a faction, with their own agendas that hopefully aren't as plain as FO:Tactics which just felt like they took the terminator storyline :/

I really don't care for the Legion. I just don't find the whole Roman empire thing appealing and especially don't buy Caesar's whole story of preacher turned psychotic, Roman empire obsessed, tyrant. I'm hoping they can evolve the Legion into something far more original, possibly a reforming of the legion ? If they went with the return of the Legate believing your [censored] that there were traitors trying to take his thrown that could have him triggering a war amongst themselves and a reforming of the Legion into a new faction or factions.

Rise of the great Khans and the return of the brother hood would be interesting too.

You do realize that Ceaser has civilized the conquer regions, the areas are safe to travel in, and fair better economically than other territories. Not only that but Ceaser and his generals have a profound respect over strong warriors in the tribes he conquers.

I'll quote Tiberius Ceaser: “It is the duty of a good shepherd to shear his sheep, not to skin them.”, While he may be cruel he has made sure his power is absolute, and for his boldness he has the respect of these once raiders. As long as Ceaser lives his rule will be absolute. While the NCR may have big guns they do not have ideals. Look at the Legion prisoner at Nelson, even at the perils of death his centurions of conquered tribes are ferociously loyal. Do you really believe that the NCR stands any sort of a chance?

I honestly think that before the very end of fallout, The CL will wipe out the NCR.

I think it's gonna be independent. It will halt NCR's expansion, and they will start to dwindle because of the failed campaign that they spent so much resources on (and because of their corruption). That way there can be a game in California with some sense of lawlessness instead of just being in 100% NCR territory.

I think a legion campaign in California and a enclave resurgence would make for a good game. ( Three factions CL, Enclave, NCR) A independent ending would be boring :|.

Ehhh.. Not Enclave and NCR as full factions in one game.

NCR and... Caesars Legion..

And a new force.

i would personally prefer NCR. they have the most 'pure' cause of the group (asking boone, he replies "claiming the land so people can live without fear")
and the BOS doesnt have to die, one option with the NCR is to have them support them, and despite theyre ongoing war, they mojave chapter helps them by patroling i-95, in return for the salvaged power armor
