What will the "cannon" ending of Fallout : New Vegas

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:24 am

I'm hoping MR. Hose, because it will result in Anarchy everywhere except inside the walls of vegas (and the eventual destruction of Vegas of course)

yay for anarchy

(is not a House fan)

i would personally prefer NCR. they have the most 'pure' cause of the group (asking boone, he replies "claiming the land so people can live without fear")
and the BOS doesnt have to die, one option with the NCR is to have them support them, and despite theyre ongoing war, they mojave chapter helps them by patroling i-95, in return for the salvaged power armor

Actually Caesars has the purest cause, They are conquering everyone to rid of any interal arguements and make everyone as "Equal" as possible.

They crucify criminals, They execute anyone that does something against their cause. (People against a cause, Difference = Opposition)

yes, which works well in the first few decades-a century or two, but eventually they will drive themselves into the ground because of the amount of people they will eventually have to deal with, losing a small portion of their soldiers each riot, a portion of slaves per rebelion, and if they hit NCR lan, they are going to meet alot of opposition, and if the courier DIDNT cure caesars tumer, then they will begin crumbling even if they won, as many follow caesar, not the ideal of caesar, more than likely breaking into their old tribes after awhile

There is no divsion in the Legion, Everyone is driven though intense training as a child, Pretty much every crime is punishable by death, Slaves do not rebel, They have explosive collars, And parts that stick into a part of their neck, Lanius would take Caesars place which would pretty much ensure a civilization with little to no crime.

Also it was said that most Legionaries would kill themselves if they are captured, And are ferociously loyal to the Legion.

Honestly I think the NCR has a low chance of becoming the canon 'Rulers' of vegas.

Caesars Legion has a better chance than NCR probably, Seeing they are newer to the series and would get a chance to expand more.

Independant Vegas has a equal chance with Caesars Legion if they don't want to expand much with New Vegas.

And Mr. House has the least chance to me, Because he was just a Tyrant/Money Lover.

You clearly did not follow the House questline or took the time to discover anything about Mr. House at all. Although I guess I can see how trying to keep humanity alive and spending fortunes on preserving it can be seen as a Money Loving Tyrant sort of person.

Also, Ceasars Legion probably has less of a chance because of the fact they are a less established faction/group in the Fallout canon.

Caesars legion has more of a chance because of that fact.

They are going to most likely be expanded in the Canon.

In one of the ending slides they call House a Tyrant, And he certainly seems like he is a money lover seeing that almost everything he does is too attract Buisness, So, You see my point?

Well ,we can't forget that some ending slides are effected by karma. My endings say that the PC keeps House from ever abusing his power.

Yeah, and what a monstrous, inhuman civilization it would be… You, bound cannon fodder, your mother and sisters merely property.

Would have been better if the bombs had just incinerated everyone.

Caesar can keep his crime free civilization. The price is just too high.

Like Jimmy Cliff said:
I’ll keep on fighting for the things I want
Though I know that when you're dead you can't
But I'd rather be a free man in my grave
Than living as a puppet or a slave…

I think I’ll go find Caesar’s corpse and put a few more bullets in it…. Evil, rotten bastard.

If NCR crumbles, then the BoS will wax once again. NCR're the reason "a suit of power armor and a laser rifle aren't nearly as intimidating as they used to be." Back before NCR, it was he witht he biggest gun. Now it's he with the most silver tongue.

I really don't get how people are saying that the Legion "is a pretty cool guy" I mean they're SLAVERS, slavery is kinda, well bad isn't it? Didn't the United States have some kinda scuffle over the whole thing? Oh sure there is civilisation but hark the words of British Chieftain Calgacus

"To robbery, slaughter, plunder, they give the lying name of empire; they make a desert and call it peace."

As it's common to have good endings (would be nice to see a change though) become canon, I'd say it'll probably be Viva Free Vegas.

Still, the end dialog with Yes Man IMO hints at Yes Man taking over as dictator. I won't go into detail now, as I can't figure out how to use spoiler tags here.

Successful dictatorship over Bureaucracy any day. This is indeed the story of Rome.

Successful dictatorship? what? like Caligula and Nero? The emperors destroyed the Empire with their mad excesses, Tiberius just lived on the Island of Capri and threw people off the cliff-tops for amusemant.

I've studied Classical Civilisation, I've lived in Italy for 3 years, trust me, the Roman empire only succeeded because they were the most advanced civilisation in the world, which made people WANT to join them, for anyone could become Roman, they wanted baths, games, and security, and The Romans were able to bring this civilisation because they had the most advanced and disciplined army ever seen.

Caesar's Legion is neither of these, Caesar is no better than Czar Nicolas II or Kaiser Wilhelm II, his legion is a joke compared to the Roman Empire's, many don't even have firearms. Ironically the 'barbarians' (NCR) are MORE ADVANCED than the faux-Romans, oh sure, the Legion are well motivated and have numbers, but so did the Gauls and Dacians who were massacred by the disciplined Roman Legions. As for the civilian part, the Legion does not have bath-houses, arches, and amphitheatres, just petty mockeries.

If the Glory that was Rome was God, Caesar's Legion is Blasphemy.

Caeser's Legion is a parody of Rome. It pointed out the flaws and the immoralities of the Roman empire. Just like the Enclave is a parody of the United States government.

Piffle, The Roman Empire was a force of good for the world and none of us would be where we are without it, Same for the U.S. Government. The Legion and the Enclave take themselves seriously in the fallout universe (i.e. they did not create themselves to be parodies) and therefore we should treat them as they should be treated in the 'game universe'.

The Enclave and Caeser's Legion take themselves seriously, because that is what part of the humour is. Their ideas and what they represent are completely absurd to everyone except them. They did not create themselves to be parodies or to be satirical that is true. But we have to look at it from a writer's standpoint.

I think you misunderstood my original point, people were defending the legion on this thread and I was pointing out why it was absurd to do so. The same applies to people who believe in the Enclave, again, the American Government is a Government which follows the constitution and heeds the words of Lincoln, "Government for the people, by the people and with the people".

And the Enclave heeds those words too. And they explicitly define those people as pure humans. Mutants, which includes those that are Second Generation wastelanders, are not humans and are therefore not people.

I'm hoping for a 100 Speech and Barter character ending with the NCR. I'd also love if CL has a downfall that runs parallel to the actual decline of the Roman Empire.

In Fallout 3 the BOS obviously wins. The Enclave is basically extinct thanks to all the Fallout games except for New vegas. In this game unfortunately the NCR wins. I personally think that House should've won because he has plans for the future and looks like he knows exactly what to do for the better of humankind.

i think that the NCR win the battle but don't have the troops and resources to conquer ceasars legion (this is hinted in the glitched dialog http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvPnc5UZ_D8&feature=player_embedded) however the NCR's taxes are increased in a desperate attempt to get more funds to continue the war. the rising unpopularity with its own citizens combined with all of the tribes the NCR have pushed arround revolt against them causing a civil war (like Marcus predicted). with all of that going on the legion lead by a new leader (posibly augustus) quickly regroups and takes over the dam.

any way thats just what i think will happen

I'm rooting for the NCR, I was there when it was just tiny Shady Sands, I was there when Tandi was president for 80 years, and I will be there when it takes over.

The NCR will implode on itself, whether it gets New Vegas or not. The legion will implode if it does not capture vegas.

What I don't get is how all these tribes and towns in the wasteland find the concept of reunification and restoration of the American state such a foreign concept, I mean, wouldn't that be kinda a high priority for a lot of people after a nuclear war and the downfall of civilisation? To restore the old world.
