What will the "cannon" ending of Fallout : New Vegas

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:56 pm

I know that when explaining the cannon of previous games, Beth. / Obsidian really vaguely explain the fullness of what happened. What do you think, if it will ever be clarified in future games, was the cannon ending of Fallout : New Vegas? I personally hope that New Vegas became independent so that the BoS will have a better chance of rising again.

Best ending possible that involves NCR taking control.

The BoS is'nt almost extinct, Thats only the New Vegas chapter.

And we won't know until the next game (Or the game after that..)

Personally, I think Caesars Legion will be victorious in the canon ending for this game, Or possibly Independant.

EDIT: The NCR does'nt have the best ending.

Independant vegas does.

There's no canon ending for Fallout 3, so there wouldn't necessarily have to be one for NV.

Personally I'd like the canon ending to be Mr. House :sadvaultboy:

That said, the canon ending will likely be that one faction we worked for will have done stuff and did things.

True story.

Thats because they don't let us know what happens to anyone. If we knew it would easier to speculate.

There is for parts of Fallout 3 so far.

The Lone Wanderer helped Moria with The Wasteland Survival guide, As it is in Fallout: New Vegas with the same cover.

He did'nt blow up megaton.

And a few others, I can't remember what exactly though.

I think the intended FO3 cannon ending was the "Good" storyline, and "good" options in the side-quests, so I'm assuming the intended cannon ending for FONV will be the NCR or Independant, but it seems more likely to be NCR, Mr. House doesn't stand a chance as cannon and the Legion is portrayed as being the bad guys far too much to end up being cannon.

Snowball's chance in Hell, maybe- nearly everything about the BoS quests was about how they're mired in their own dogma, and doomed because they flatly refuse to change. I'd say future canon chronicling their near-total extinction, with a very few members throwing out the Codex and starting a new, viable group under another name and belief system wouldn't be completely out of the realm of possiblity.

To me honest, I can see that all 4 "main" endings are flawed to the point that it looks like that none of them cannot hold New Vegas very long without something bad happening to their overall organization.

That say, it usually the "good" guys ending that tend to suffice enough to be "canon".

Honestly I think the NCR has a low chance of becoming the canon 'Rulers' of vegas.

Caesars Legion has a better chance than NCR probably, Seeing they are newer to the series and would get a chance to expand more.

Independant Vegas has a equal chance with Caesars Legion if they don't want to expand much with New Vegas.

And Mr. House has the least chance to me, Because he was just a Tyrant/Money Lover.

Personally, I think there should have been a fifth available ending pattern...

The game essentially requires that you side with one of the major factions (NCR, Legion, House) or take over NV yourself. Personally, I'm of the mind that a fifth option should have been included, where you take no side in the Dam conflict. Instead, you leave the major factions to duke it out themselves (resulting in a stalemate), and side with one of the smaller factions. For instance:

You side with the Brotherhood: With NCR and the Legion engaged in a bloody stalemate at the dam, the Brotherhood (led by you) retakes Helios and expands its influence in the Mojave wasteland.

You decide to stay with the Boomers: War and chaos consumes the outside world, but the Courier is safe behind the Boomers' guns. He/she settles down, finds love, raises a family in peace.

You join up with the Khans: As war and violence permeates the wastes, you lead the Khans north into Montana and Wyoming, where they carve a mighty empire. Eventually, you become the next Papa Khan.

Et cetera...

There's no cannon ending because canonicity is only established in later games that use the same setting.

And as mentioned above some things are cannon. The wasteland survival guide was completed and is useful in raising your skills, so the Lone Wanderer didn't lie to moira and completed all the tasks.

It's typically only much later though that we find out. For instance we find out in FO:NV that it is canonical that the Chosen One used Cassidy as a companion and Cassidy survived. the Lone Wanderer went east after the events of FO:2. in FO3 we find out that Harold went east as well.

It has been rumored that the next fallout is to head back to California if that is indeed the case it will either be the independent ending or CL being victorious.

The Lone wanderer is from Fallout 3.

The Chosen one is fallout 2, I think you confused the two later in your post lol.

Also, Marcus also confirms he was with the Chosen One too.

I don't know, because I heard a rumor (may not be true mind you) Bethesda halted Obsidians attempt to use the Grand Canyon and Arizona, saying that it's going to be used in a later game or something along those lines.

You're right, I meant that the Lone Wanderer didn't lie to Moira and completed the quests. the CHOSEN ONE took Cassidy and at some point visited Broken Hills.

Also FO:NV hints that the Chosen One sided with Bishop in Reno and lacked a certain inventory item when doing a certain act with a certain crime boss' wife.

Bethesda should give up on story lines, they often do it wrong.
