What will the extra button be used for when wielding 2 hande

Post » Sat Dec 25, 2010 1:05 am

They should have a spell that act's like a shield. So say you have that spell in slot two, and a weapon in slot one. Your being attacked so you hold right mouse button and your magical shield raises in time to block the blow. Would be neat for hybrid characters. Instead of just having a bubble form around you and assuming damage is being reduced.

On PC, right-click for right hand, left-click for left hand. Cast "C", Dragon Shout probably "V" or X" I don't know. Scroll change view to 3rd person, click wheel to move camera like in Oblivion. Use only right-click when 2 handed. And left-click to parry.

On PS3, R2 for right hand, L2 for left hand. I don't know about the rest.

On 360... I don't know much about the 360 controller, but something like the PS3 one.

Block?

Do people block with a 2 handed weaponry like a claymore in real life?
Or do they just use the wide reach as their defense?

I'm thinking PS3wise here.

R1 - attack right weapon/spell.
R2 - block right weapon.

L1 - attack left weapon/spell.
L2 - block left weapon.

Still, doesn't seem quite right though.

There is no cast button.
You either assign a spell to a hand or don't cast at all.
And I hope I can attack with the left mouse button. Any idea how annoying it would get to use the right one all the time?
Edit: And I refuse to become left handed! :D

What if you've got an unlock spell in the other hand? You have to cast unlock on the enemy after every swing?

No, they have to have a button for each hand and a separate block button.

svcks to be you. Put a better spell in your off hand when you are fighting. I'd be okay with left click attack with both hands, right click block. If they want to have each hand be a separate button that is fine as well, but a bit more of a pain in the ass to use.

Oh right, that's true I forgot. It would be nice if we could execute combos and different attacks by pressing the right and left button with different timings.

single handed weapon nothing else
-right trigger: attack
-Left trigger: punch
-Right bumper: block with sword
-Left bumper: block with fist

Two handed weapon:
-right trigger: attack
-left trigger: special attack
-right bumper: block
-left bumper: ???

i based this off a 360 controller, and think itll work lik this simply cause the shield now can attack aswell so there has to be 2 attack buttons and i fig there has to be 2 block buttons

A better question is, how do you block with 2 weapons selected? How do you shield bash if you have a shield and a weapon? What about 2 shields?

Wha? Even if it was a combat useful spell like fireball, it wouldn't make sense to make you use it after every swing of the sword.

With 3 buttons obviously, left right and block.

2 shields would be possible with the system but it's kinda dumb so I doubt they put it in.

I'm hoping for this layout, since I play on the 360:

RT: Attack with right hand
RB: Block with right hand
LT: Attack with left hand
LB: Block with left hand

Of course I have no clue what blocking with a spell would be like... perhaps a utility spell can be set there, while a combat spell would be set to the trigger? (a destruction/restoration spell would be combat, unlock/feather would be utility for example)

Okay there are some flaws with this, and I'm not sure how that would work on PC, but I think this could possible work with some tweaking.

I think this would be better.

RT: Attack with right hand
LT: Attack with left hand / block(If using a shield)
RB: Block(Dual Wield) / parry / shield bash(If using a shield)
LB: Move objects around like in Oblivion.

Edit: Or LT could be shield bash and keep RB as block to avoid confusion...

I really don't think there will be 2 block buttons, what you block with will probably be determined based on your equipment set up. Have a shield and sword, you block with the shield. Have a sword and spell, you block with the sword. Have two weapons, you block with the left hand weapon.

RT: right hand
LT: left hand
RB: block
LB: something else (dragon shout, quickslot wheel, spell menu, etc)

Oblivions "cast spell button" or "C" on pc should be be new block button if you think about it.

Anyway I will remap it to my mouse thumb button.

I think you just move forward with shield raised to shield bash.and one button to control equipped weapons. I wonder if we have to max the Block skill to shield bash.

I'm guessing there's an attack button for each hand, one for magic and one for blocking.
