What will the extra button be used for when wielding 2 hande

Post » Fri Dec 24, 2010 11:08 pm

This is assuming if you have a 2h weapon equipped you can't have a spell in one hand. But since each hand has its own attack button, what are they going to do with the spare?

I think you should be able to do something like kick with the extra button, or strike the enemy with the pommel to throw them off balance (would be kind of like a shield bash).

And if you're using a mage's staff, the extra button should let you strike with the staff in melee.

Probably work like in Oblivion where you use the two handed weapon to block.

I'm guessing that there is a seperate block button as (and I can't be certain about this) I've read on these forums that shields now have an attack feature. I''d guess there's a secondary attack feature for two handed weapons.

Good question. You should be able to block and attack with any weapon or shield. So there should be at least three buttons to use in combat. Unless there's one attack button and you will alternate between your two selected weapons for attacking.

There will already be a block button, unless you're suggesting we won't be able to block with 2 weapons or 1 weapon and spell. Besides they have already said there will be a way to bash with your shield.

which spare button?

The left hand attack button.

I don't know what they control scheme will be now. Whatever button you press to use what's in your left hand.

No. Two items and/or spells and that's it. That's what I gather from the info so far.

maybe it's just not used. but I'm still sure they'll do some kind of secondary attack

although it wouldn't surprise me if you were able to assign a spell to one hand anyways, since you would still be holding the sword with the other hand while casting

Block with the weapon maybe, or maybe a special swing.

Actually I'm not even sure it will be a one button for each hand gameplay.

From what I've heard, it will be one button attack (two weapons conroled by this button, so basically the player will just swing one arm after another) the other button block. Which would be a pity.

What if you've got an unlock spell in the other hand? You have to cast unlock on the enemy after every swing?

No, they have to have a button for each hand and a separate block button.

I don't know, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere...

Anyway, we don't need a separate block button.

Wield a shield on one hand: hold button blocks. for example. Or just click, and a double click does a shield bash.

Wield two or only one weapons? Hold the two mouse buttons to block (character crosses his blades in front of him or whatever).

If it's a "one button for each hand gameplay", I think the function will just depend of the object your wielding.

They are going to have an extra button free since the casting button is going to be gone.

Since I play on computer, I'd predict something like control button is either block or left hand, and the c-button is changed from cast to crouch.

yeah there's DEFINITELY a block button though. I mean, they'd have to make weilding two swords be incredibly powerful if they remove it.
and besides, you can also shield bash, so it's probably not just the same button as block, otherwise it's gonna feel really weird

One Handed Weapon (with or w/o shield) w/o Spell:

LMB: Attack
RMB: Block

One Handed Weapon with Spell:

LMB: Attack
RMB: Block
MWheelB: Spell

Two Handed Weapon:

LMB: Attack
RMB: Block

(and if they give the option to take a single hand off the weapon to cast a spell then the MWheelB will cast it.)

Duel Wielding will not allow for spells:

LMB: Attack Left
RMB: Attack Right
MWheelB: Block
LMB + RMB: Cleave with both weapons. Inverted blade decapitation slice a'la Fellowship Of The Ring finale yayyyyyyyyyyyyy :D

Tada :D

This is how I would run it, and the easiest way for Bethesda to do it.

Left Click

1. Single-handed weapon - Attack normal power
2. Spell- Attack single power (second hand routed to "C")
3. Dual-Handed weapon - Attack, more power
4. Dual-Wield weapon - Attack, with 2x speed, alternating strikes

Right Click

1. Single-handed weapon - block with weapon or shield
2. Spell- block with arms or shield
3. Dual-Handed weapon - Block with weapon
4. Dual-Wield weapon - Light block with one weapon, ability to attack lightly with other, possibly critical hits

As for bash attacks, Sheild and pommel strikes, please. All weapon types. But not with hands. unless no damage is caused.
