What will the United States be like in 2377?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:54 pm

According to the Vault 101 PA System, the U.S. will be "habitable" again in the year 2377. If this is true, what changes might we see if a future Fallout title was placed in this year; or shortly after, compared to what we have seen in previous titles?

America has been habitable since long before 2161. Also have to remember that Vault 101 wasn't meant to be open, so they would be telling the people in it "Oh we can't go outside because it will kill us."

I figure Deathclaw, Nightstalker, and Cazador breeding will skyrocket, and all other life will be extinguished in a gruesome horrorshow. The entire western hemisphere will be reduced to a warzone between these super-predators, never to be reclaimed.

Hopefully the NCR would overtake the Legion across the Western US, and bring order about that region. Then the BoS would reclaim the East Coast, and explorations into central US, Canada and Mexico could take place. It'd be a whole lot safer and a world I'd wanna live in, so long as me and my fellow Kings get Freeside to ourselves

Welcome to the Forums!

The NCR doesn't have the means to control the Legion's territory without factoring in how many would die taking it.

Lyons BoS barely have the strength to hold the Capital Wasteland, I think they will only be able to control that, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and Pennsylvania at the most.

There is also a dictatorship known as the Mid Western Brotherhood of Steel living in, you guessed it, the Mid West which would cause a problem for whoever tries to take that land.

And I hate the idea of only one or two nations control the former USA, I want there to be eight or nine at the least by the end of the series.

Thanks for the welcome!

As for the idea I had, that was simply what I would like to see personally, an east and west coast pair of nations, with scattered nation-states in between. Mainly I would like to know what happened to the rest of the world, namely Africa (since it wouldn't have been hit hard by nukes if much at all), Mexico, and China.

You're welcome, most people get welcomed like that... I didn't :sadvaultboy:

I still don't know, the MWBoS has the potential to be a very powerful (and awesome) empire right in the middle of the country.

I would prefer each region having a different country like the Southeast being its own country, the Northeast being its own country, Lyons BoS controlling the area in between, the Mid West being its own country, the area south of there being its own country, etc.

And I don't really want to know about the rest of the world, Fallout is about America. If other places are mentioned without leaving the US I would be fine with that but otherwise no thanks.

By that time maybe some conflicts still going on, but for the most part the new countries will be taking shape. In 200 years after that, give or take a decade, I would expect a Europe feel to it for how many countries there would be (Europe 200-300 years ago). The NCR would be the largest reaching all the way to the Rockies, If the legion changes their brutal ways then they would have a considerable chunk of land. Lyon's BoS would control up to New Yorkish area and own the Virginias. Hopefully the MWBoS will have some area, but I don't expect it to be large (Maybe Illinois and Missouri area). Then the rest of the areas would be some other countries smaller than the rest. For maybe a total of 20 new countries. That is what I would expect, but anything could happen.

The populations would double two more times.

Fyi, with the clean water from project purity, DC area would thrive, as would the BoS, who basically controls the water.

Those creatures you don't need to worry about as much. Its Tunnelers that could take over everything.

"They'll start emerging throughout the Mojave in time, might be years. Probably less. They breed fast, hunt in groups, more than enough to bring down the strongest in the Mojave. Once they draw blood... Seen them tear apart http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Deathclaw... Deathclaw might get some, but the rest will swarm it, tear it apart, like http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Denver hounds." -Ulysses

But tunnelers haven't met the most dangerous enemy in large force - humans, so hopefuily something stupid doesn't happen like tunnelers take over the world.

They have run into the people of the Divide. Sure they are skinless freaks, but still smart. Tunnelers remind me of the movie Tremors. In that Tunnelers are an underground creature that threatens to escape the divide and cause all kinds of trouble.

I don't think they will take over the wasteland, but they are more of a threat then any wasteland creature yet.

I know that, that is why I said large force. What if the appeared in an NCR city? That is what I am saying.

Tunnelers have serious weakness with light. Deathclaws have no weakness.

If wastelanders went in prepared they could prolly push tunnelers back, or to extinction.

Or even better herd up some deathclaws and drop them into tunneler area and see what happens.

Tunnelers do have weakness but I doubt any large force will go into the Divide any time soon to deal with them. By then they could spread out into the Mojave. Could cause alot of trouble, before an organized force deals with them and by then it will be to late. The best the people could to is manage them. A most nasty version of molerats I guess.

I think we can agree that by 2377 the problem would be dealt with some way or another.

I could see a very mixed nation, I think the Canon ending would be the Courier's allignment to the NCR, but the NCR's eventual downfall because they became to far spread. A new government would arise from their ashes and control probably the West coast, up until the Rockies. Caesar's Legion would either forge a very small area for itself between the MWBoS and the NCR, or they would have moved down to Mexico. Then I think Lyons' Brotherhood would hold Maryland, some parts of Pennsylvania, lower New York, New Jersey, and some parts of Virginia, then the Northeast would be a mix between the Institution, and other tribes and gangs, would kind of turn into the Badlands.

I'm hoping that there would be other nations within the United States. While I hate the NCR with a passion, I would like them to continue to exist just so that another country can kick their ass (preferbably Lyon's BOS or the MWBOS). But yeah, I want some nations....maybe a total of 6. That would be sweet.

Have you all forgotten about the Northwest US? Or the non-MWBoS controlled Midwest? Or Florida?

By then it will be a lovely shining paradise to rival that of Rome in its glory days, with shrines deticated to Caesar in every town. Thats just the West Coast.
The Central belt will be happily dominated by the MWBoS but they will have absolute control by then.
The Eastern Coast will be more or less the same but with a grown Lyon's BoS and a booming Capital Wasteland due to the pumping of clean and fresh water.

No, I just said there would be smaller countries within those areas.

I may make a map of what I believe it would look like, cause I never have anything better to do.
