What will you build in FO4?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 8:31 am

So since Building is something that I'm guessing most people will try out, How will you go about it? Will you build multiple settlements around the land or just one house somewhere? Would you want to build your house or settlements near the main city of Boston or near the dockyards or in the woods of the commonwealth? Any specific plans for the layout n whatnot?

I will probably build just 1 settlement at first, my main one. I'd like it to be out by itself, maybe on the coast near a pier, but somewhat close to the city. That way I can have a good trade route with Diamond City and still feel independent. Might make my people real militarized, making guns and armor to trade.

If I run into a companion that I really like, eventually I'll create another settlement for that person to run. I'll make it completely different from mine just to give it a different character. I've been reading the Walking Dead comics so I'm thinking along the lines of that, with how I want the settlements to be. Alexandria is my settlement, The Hilltop is my Companions settlement.

Also, I'll have a secret house somewhere very secluded, just incase [censored] goes down at my town, or I decide to make my character just change and turn bad, or If my character is in a romance with another and I just have to get away from her sometimes. I'll have somewhere I can escape to. Lol.

Well until we know more about what you can and can't do with settlements it's hard to really say. I think I'll end up building something similar to one that was shown with multiple levels and small buildings that are raised up off the ground. They were connected by small walkways and had almost a treehouse village kind of feel to it. I'd also like to do something similar to your idea with Alexandria but we'll have to see if putting up defensive walls is a thing we can for sure do

Dunno yet. But what i know is that i like to keep things simple and useful but still cozy in a way. This means nothing fancy or over-the-top.

I think I'll stick with your typical trading outpost. Something I'll keep for awhile before expanding my business.

I'd like to build a slaving settlement. Throw a couple slaves into an arena for a fight to the death, the winner gets dinner. But I'm not holding my breath.

I want to build a settlement on a hill or mountainous ,something that is elevated so I will have a tactical advantage over the raiders
I am not sure if I want to build multiple settlements when I first start out
A settlement that is simple with lots of storage

If we could have android slaves, that would be amazing. And I would for sure have them with my bad character.

To start, just a functional house built from what's left of my pre-war home. But once I get to the settlement site on the coast, I'll build the tallest mad scientist tower I can. Just a little F you! to those busybodies at the Institute. First floor will be a bar.

I'll also at some point build myself a castle at the most inappropriate location possible.

I want to build a high tech enclave like The Citadel. I want laser turrets lining the walls and Sentry Bots patrolling the perimeter. I want it to be incredibly imposing on the outside, but then have amenities out the wazoo on the inside, like if The Citadel was a resort town.

Is that a Morrowind reference? The mad scientist tower on the coast?

A better future!
A mesh of settlements trading everything between Abraxo Cleaner to vault suits, bringing prosperity to the far reaches of the Commonwealth.
Once we stamp out all other trade routes, our co-operative will be the sole provider for anything and everything a Commonwealth citizen could need. For a nominal fee, of course.

I want to build one settlement based on the colony in The Passage. Tall walls with concertina fencing pointing out as a collar to keep out any climbers (or jumpers).

I hope to build a town for trade and entertainment, with a heavily guarded perimeter.

Going to go for multi-leveled buildings with walkways up high connecting to each important building. I wish we could build down into the ground...hoping for that in the future if not in this game.

Eventually I will build more settlements, specialise some of them, and add in trade routes...should keep me busy defending the lot as well as the trade routes themselves.

Well, we will technically be one of the oldest people in the wasteland, won't we? It would be an unintentional reference.

I'm hoping to be able to make my buildings similar to the ones here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsFpH4jm-QI at the very beginning. Those type of houses, will a nice sized wall around it and guards around the wall.

Imagine Coruscant from Star Wars. Something like that. Tall buildings connected by walkways, with a cluttered road at the bottom and as much military protection as possible crammed into it.
