What will you name your character?

Post » Wed Sep 29, 2010 6:22 pm

Lol no problem, i love thinking up names for different races...

i was trying to think of a name for a dark elf that was brought acrossed the border into skyrim by his refuge parents who were killed in a nord raid but one nord saw him laying under his lifeless mothers body took him home and raised him. also leads into why hes being executed but i presume that is for another thread. he is a very brutal fighter but has inherant abilitys in destruction that are only now comeing to life in him as is the knowlege of his origin.

My Nord female will be Eirunn the Bright, a name which is old Norse in origin combined with Elder Scrolls Nordic naming convention. It's both pretty and in keeping with lore, so I'm pretty proud of it. :3

see thats where i get lost i dont know enough about the subtlties of the lore(do you know where i could learn) to know the difference
i know that the dunmers migrated into skyrim when the aragonians took morrowind back (or was it solstiem)

i kindof want a mix of a nordic name that his addopted parents gave him and traditionaly dunmer

I'm never lost for a cool name, so I don't need to set one up ahead of time. When the "What is your name?" comes up, I'll name my character then. And it will be better than anyone else's. :P

Better then Misty Buttflutters?....I think not.

Arthus or Phex. His name will ultimately become Dovakhin. But only his closest friends will rarely name him by his true title.

Okay gotcha, so im going to make a chart with different Dunmer names and Nordic names that i have made in the past and you can pick and chose from them and create something of your liking

Dunmer First Names:
Fedaves
Vilvanil
Uradas
Dunmer Last Names:
Benethran
Llethri
Hlarar
Nordic First Names:
Hulgard
Loronrod
Aenar
Nordic Last Names:
Wind-Runner
Dagljot
Trait(look below for more info)

So i gave you 36 possible combinations for names just out of those 12... You could have something like Fedaves Dagljot or Loronrod Llethri... Those are just two possible ones

*Okay well see the problem with last names for nords is that most of them just have names like Hulgard the Brave, or Hulgard the Stupid... So really thats up to you

Drools-A-Lot :D It's almost like Lancelot (or Loungelot in Blazing Dragons :))

Other names I plan to use:
Hides-His-Fear (my most used character name)
Strikes-From-Shadow (my shadowscale's name)

I'm not sure yet. I'll probably use the name generator to find a good name, or just use Connor(my name). I wish I had given my characters on Oblivion last names, because I'm planning on making my second character a descendant of my Wood Elf character Lieth.

Well im not gonna name my character Toolpuppy, that's forsure.
I really like the name "Soma" for a female mage character, but I dont think I'll be playing a female mage character.
So for my Orc warrior I may go with "Krogar".

My first character is going to be an Imperial and I'm going to read tolkien's books this summer so I might get a couple of ideas from there or else I'd try find a name from one of king arthur's stories. If that still doesn't please me then I will try to create one of my own - something beginning with 'M' since my name is Mark.

I always play a female character in TES, and typical I call my female characters Bethany. That was the name of the most beautiful girl I had ever met when I was a kid. That name still means ‘beautiful’ to me in some very deeply personal way.

I'll browse through the index of The Silmarillion like I usually do and pick something that sounds cool, so a fantasy name.

Wow, that's exactly what I do too! I usually call my female characters Yavanna and my male characters Fe?nor.

Fantassy Like I try to fit in the Tamriel's world for my part by using elder scrolls wiki guides ...

Since Imperials are based on Romans and Bretons are based on Anglo Saxons, and Nords are based on 'Scandinivians' I try to fit in with that ....

I also often use names of characters I make for tabletop roleplaying games ....

And on ocassion with beast races I remember I used to have a argonian named the nameless argonian , because he growed up in the slums and was never named ...
