What will you do when they announce the next elder scrolls

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:15 am

sorry to burst the bubble guys..

but I get the feeling they havent even started pre-prodution of TESV yet.

I'm pretty sure that we have enough evidence to disprove that.

 What is it that they've been saving the Skyrim trademark for and been working on for two years of full development, then? They haven't been sitting around doing nothing and what could this game possibly be if not TES V, Fallout 4, right after two consecutive Fallout games being released before TES V?

Maybe the two years was mostly used trying to figure out how to re-program the vending machine? Free candy can be pretty tempting.

No, when Todd wants a candy bar, he just casts bound warhammer and smashes the machine open. :P

First I will probably jump up and down, squealing. Then, depending on how far away the release date is, I will most certainly go back to playing all TES-games to get into the groove again.

What will I do? Begin fantasizing even more about all the possibilities... Probably play some Oblivion and/or Fallout 3, get annoyed by all the annoying noobs and new threads in the shiny new TES V board here... Be happy...

In response to the question about the length of time between Oblivion's reveal and release: well, the first teaser trailer for FO3 was released in June 2007, about 16 months before the game hit shelves. (Though everyone knew FO3 was coming by April 2007, as Beth had publicly acquired the license and created a website for a new Fallout game.)

Oblivion was first confirmed in September of 2004, though details didn't surface for a month and a half later, at the end of October 2004, and nothing of real substance was revealed until after E3 2005 in May. From the first confirmation until the release date (which was pushed back, something Beth is obviously doing everything they can to avoid this time around) was a span of about 18 months, and from the time when the first trailer was shown to the [postponed] release date was 10 months.

We can safely assume that there will not be a 6-8 month gap between the announcement and the time when rea news starts to flow. It will probably be more like Fallout; they will make an announcement, some early details will emerge soon thereafter, and within a month or two we'll have a trailer and start getting more information. I think the wait between the reveal and the release will probably be 9-14 months; I don't want to be to narrow here because I'm really just basing it off of how I interpreted various comments made by people like Todd. If he says it will be the shortest time from reveal to release, that means it will be less than 16 months . . . and probably significantly less. So I can't see it lasting much more than a year, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was significantly less than a year.

With all this in mind, let's assume they make the reveal sometime between October and March (please forgive another broad estimate). If this is the case, and we apply my broad estimate wait of 9-14 months, I think we can expect the next title to hit shelves just in time for the Holiday season of 2011. Once we get official word it will be a bit easier to get a decent idea of when the game will come out, but for now this is my best guess. I'm optimistic that we'll have the game H2 2011, and that we'll learn a lot about it during H1 2011.

Why would you do that and simply have to say you love another right after :o

Seriously, you won't have a life when TES V comes out :P.

Todd is very good with the PR marketing side of things, they just let us churn the rumor mill to build up hype.
I agree, will probably see an announcement before PAX east which is September 3, and will hear nothing more till E3 2011. Which is probably when we would be seeing a release date. Elder Scrolls is such a heavyweight of a title that even a simple confirmation that it's being developed would eclipse anything coming out that year perhaps except for a movie announcement from one of the big 3. Since they confirmed they are very far into development they will want to talk about it while the hype of the confirmation is still hot.

oh really? please provide it.

skyrim being a trademark name =/= TESV being under production.

Bethesda could be making a new Doom game. The man who assumes sets himself up for a fall. Heed my warning friend.

Well since they're working on 2 games right now, one that is in full development and one that is in pre-production, it would be very hard to think that neither one is Elder Scrolls.

I'd be anticipating the announcement of the second book, really enjoyed the first so hopefully the second one will be announced either before TES V or just after its announced.

And then i'd flick to some "man" websites for happy hour.

In order

1. Check to see if the source is accurate and go on multiple sites with the news regarding the announcement and check out peoples reactions to it
2. If validated be filled with great pleasure and ectasy upon hearing the news. Lack of sleep will incur due to pent up energy and in general excitement
3. Look up any and all infomation on details of the game
4. Watch the forum both in horror and fasination as the forum goes chaotic with many threads going OMG TESV, TESV! and alot of locking occurs. Not to mention many members rage quitting as details are released and many new members coming here. And of course the thrack of banhammers day and night as many people lose control of themselves and all the mouth breathers flooding into the forums.
5. At a certain point discontinue step 4 and stick to CD for awhile.
6. Wait until release with barely contained excitement.

I would pre-order the Collector's Edition on Amazon for my 360.

Then when GotY Edition comes out after some DLC, I would buy that as well. Because Bethesda deserves the money.

Um.......Why in the world would Bethesda an open world RPG making company would make Doom 4 instead of iD a shooter making company and the original makers of Doom. Also Todd said they wouldn't be using id tech 5 because you cant create as much of a dynamic world as their current engine can. Tell me why you would need a dynamic open world engine for a game like Doom instead of a more shooter geared engine like id tech 5.

No, ID makes Doom 4. They've even stated they are. And is Doom an open-world game?
Bethesda's been specifically renewing Skyrim, of all trademarks, yet they have no intention of doing anything with it? They just keep renewing it for the hell of it?Why did they commission two books when they have no intention of doing anything with the series for years? Not to mention they said they don't want to juggle too many IPs, and it would be a very bad move to skip TES for longer. If you've got any evidence for your 'feeling', then please provide it.
