What will you do when you first get Skyrim?

Just wondering, I have no idea what I will do first and how I will start out. :bonk:

Most likely, do the main quest first, so I get a feel of what the game is like. Then, I'll create another character and explore away.

What happened to me in Oblivion and Morrowind I ended up starting the main quest then getting to a stopping point and doing side quests.
So I think I'm going to start main quests in Skyrim, then take a break and do some major role-playing since there is cooking and other activities :)

I'm just going to let the game progress naturally. If the threat is imminent and the MQ is pushed, I'm going to do that first. If my character gets a little downtime, then I'm going to to a little independent adventuring, or join a faction.

Edit* Not sure if this falls under the "little of this, little of that" category, or "Start the Main Quest and beat it first".

option isn't there, but I want to explore a bit to get my bearings. Not necessarily go loot-hunting, but traveling and potentially some dungeons/caves. I want to absorb the atmosphere that is Skyrim...

You should add "Look for the blonde bar-maid." to the poll options :)

I'll stick largely to the MQ, but will more than likely get sidetracked by SQs. I normally just play through the MQ fairly fast first time round just to find out what happens, then go on to do some real exploring/roleplaying with a different character. I never carry on playing after the MQ with my first character.

I will explore, gather some gold buy a house work up the ladder to get the most expensive house then I will try to get rare items weapons and books artifacts, I will be leveling up of course, I will join the Synod and hopefully The College of Whispers both I always joined the mages guikd first, it will probably be a long while before I do the main quest, I will play the game with maybe one or two characters to get the feel of the game then break out my main character.

I'll explore the world for hours and hours like I always do, doing random quests here and there and save the best for last (MQ).

I'll probably do the same thing I did with Nehrim... do a little Main Quest, but also go and do this and that to level up my character and train my skills.

Did the same with Fallout New Vegas. I got to the point where I completed the rest of that main quest in about a day, and I have a save from before a particular branch in case I want to try from a different perspective.

I am going to find that beautiful blond Nord shop keeper in Riverwood. Then I will see if I can have a conversation with the Irish Wolfhound that man was walking in the street.

Never did the main quest in III or IV. Just some side quests and wandering about killing and robbing and gaining power.

Hoping that the 1st NPC I talk too doesn't have an annoying voice.

The 1st thing I'll do is check the options to see what's available, then I'll create my Female Breton hopefully getting the face to look right the 1st time through.

My first char will be to explore the game mechanics, find glitches, find easter eggs, mostly lone wolf stuff. Then I'll make some test characters, see what kind of setup I like the best for my surroundings. Then I'll find a good char, settle down with it and finish up the main quest pretty quick. Then explore the world and do Daedric shrine and faction quests and dungeons and stuff.

I will explore and loot for a few hours. When I am a fairly good level and have some good money and weapons I will start the MQ. Beat that then explore and do some side quests.

Explore and do various side quests, then some of the main quest a bit later in the game, the switch between the two some times.

I'll wander aimlessly around the land until I happen upon a town. I won't use a map, since I doubt I would have been supplied with one upon my release. Once inside the town, I'll find an inn to get my first good rest in a real bed in a long time. Prison bedrolls aren't good for the back. Then I'll head to a tavern for some drink and conversation and get to know the people. I'll probably be short on gold, so I'll try to find some work, and I'll take it from there. I'm sure I'll be in and around (whatever town I run into) for a long time, earning enough gold to [hopefully it's in] buy a small hovel, and maybe even [with any luck it's in] a shop to sell goods. I'll fall into the day-to-day with the other townsfolk and live a quiet life among new friends... until I get an urge to go hiking and see what lies beyond the shadow of the town.

I plan to do a lot more RP'ing than in past ES games. Still, if past habits are any indicator, I won't be touching the main quest for at least a calendar year, or 300+ game hours, whichever comes last.
