Play it.

I read the title and was going to come here to post the same thing.
It's kind of a weird question I mean what are you wanting some unique answer like, when I get it I am going to throw it in the air scream like a banshee throw a stick at it let it hit the ground stomp on it then take it out see if it still works if it does THEN I will play it..?

I'll smell the disk and the manual for a while... new games smell amazing.

It'll be November, so I'll probably open my patio door really wide so that I can chill my bones as I prepare to explore a vast snowscape.

Later I'll come to my senses, close the door, wrap myself in a blanket and play the game until I pass out from exhaustion. Hopefully I won't accidentally kill a guard in my sleep this time.

First thing I'll do is get my hands on a full suit of Steel armor and a Steel longsword, get all kitted up and then I'll sit down and play the game.

I'll make a character, 50 hours in I won't like how he looks, I'll go back and make another one, and so on, the third time should work out fine.

I'll read the instructions to find Pete Hines's introduction. Then I'll sit on the toilet and read the rest of the instructions and plan my first character!

Well I'll flick through the manual rather than read it in depth because I just won't be able to resist diving in and playing it. Then I'll get stuck and/or confused shortly after the tutorial and read teh manual cover to cover. As for play the main quest or side quests, faction quests etc. that would depend on what sort of leveling system the game uses. For example if it uses an Oblivion style system I'll leave the main quest a while until I'm a higher level, I reckon the main quest will be more epic that way. When I first played Oblivion I went straight into the main quest and played it until it was finished without delving into side quests and mostly encountered scamps, clannfears and flame atronachs. Second time I played it I started after finishing the guild quests etc. I encountered deadroths, spider deadra etc and the main quest seemed much harder and epic.
If it uses a system similar to Morrowind I'll start with the main quest.

What kind of question is this? I'll play it. Or do you mean the very first thing? I'd walk out of Gamestop with it.

Erik: We are hoping for no enemy leveling, so then it'll be epic throughout the whole quest at any level!

I've gone digital download these days (been through too many scratched disks and misplaced key codes), so I'll have already downloaded it and be waiting for the moment when the "play" button appears. Then I'll play it, hopefully remembering to turn on all subtitles first because I sometimes forget that and miss any intro narration! At least that's what I hope will happen, rather than tears, panic, and a mad scramble around the tech support forum :brokencomputer:

Read the manual, of course.

This. I'm obsessive compulsive about it. I won't even take the disc out prior to reading the manual front to back word by word.

As with Oblivion, I will vanish into Cyrodiil and not return for months (mentally). If Oblivion is any marker, I'll be locked up in the game for years and years.

Last time around I wasn't modding the TES engine, this time I will be - so the mix will be different, but no less heavenly.

(If the CS is included in the game as it was with FNV, I'll be drilling into that all night Before I play the game).

I will be asking that weekend off, and as soon as I get it I will install and play the hell out of it.

Optimizing the settings is, of course, really a part of the installation process, so there's that.

Ha ha yeah I can imagine doing something like that. I did a happy Gollum dance when the game was announced (the happy leaping in the air thing Gollum does when he eventaully gets his hands on the ring, though no lava for me to fall into, just snow) so what I'll do when I finally have the game in my hands.
