1st: Open it up in the Creation Kit and see if Dragons have scripts attached.
2nd: Run around taking in the landscape for a few hours.

First hour: Character creation and tutorial dungeon
Then main quest or go visit every major city.

I would play and hope that I don't have to babysit that day or weekend because it I have to share with my mom's friend ten year old when I just get it then things my get ugly fast.-_-

Ill probably mess around in the character creater then test what i like best like warrior nord or a magic orc and pick what i like then head on to the actual gameplay

ill spend about 30 minutes creating an awesome snow khajiit, complete the dungeon, then explore a bit until i begin the main quest

Mostly explore the world and what is in it, as well as trying to get my feel as to what main type of character I want to play; a thief/archer, melee, or mage.

As soon as my character makes his fortunate escape from execution and leaves all persuit safely behind him, he will attempt to become acquainted with the territory he's in, examine and collect some samples of plant-life from the wild, look for wildlife and collect hides and meats, become acquainted with locals from nearby villages and enquire about employment. I'll hang out in that localle until I become a little more seasoned as a Skyrim explorer and more experienced with the more fluid combat system.

Character Creation is pretty obvious, but hopefully I won't spend too long doing that. Then I'll do the tutorial, which is the escape from execution, I'm betting. After that... Explore, make my way to a near by town, probably following the main quest line a bit. Once I get to town, I'll see if there's a house to buy and what I have to do to in order to purchase it. I'll read all the books I can in order to learn more about the environment, and hopefully stumble across something mentioning the Dark Brotherhood. If I'm able to join the DB, that will become my goal...

Once the tutorial is over, hit up Riverwood (since it seems it will be the first settlement you find) and see what kinds of trouble I can get into. After that, probably work on the main quest a little bit, so I can get an idea of what's going on in the world and to practice my skills with the new combat system (dual wielding magic/weapons). But the next few hours after that will be doing what I did in OB... exploring every inch of Skyrim I can reach.
