what will your companion or wife do if you get on a horse?

They should get on the back of my horse and shoot arrows and spells at our enemies. The horrible escort quests would become a pleasure at least for me.

She will ride sidesaddle. :P

I dunno, I just hope they don't have to run along the groud beside, because that just feels unchivalrous.

Reminds me of KOTN, where you'd tell the knights it was time to go to Garlas Malatar, and without another word, about three of them get on horseback and start to ride, while the others just start sprinting through the forest to Anvil. No formation, no dignity, just like kids playing tag.

I was like "wait guys! Be sensible!"

I wouldn't mind pocketing ala Mario RPG. hehe I thought it was funny that they actually mentioned how this sort of thing worked in that game. Everyone just "fit" into Mario's pocket.

Maybe they can ride on the back of the horse with you, and shoot things with a bow and arrow.

he doesn't have anything better to do apart from playing skyrim with Todd for the past 2 months. he must have sussed out horses and companions by now in the game.

i sent a message to one of the Gstaff about my question and this was the reply.

'Your character can ride the horse. You don't ride with another person'

it doesn't really give you a full insight into what i was wanting to know. but from his statement i take it he means your companion will not get on the back of the same horse as you. but i still don't know if they would get on their own horse if there were two horses available. we'll just need to wait and see i suppose.

If there is a second horse, your companion will get on it. Like in Oblivion.

They still have to chase you if you concider pets/conjured/mind controlled things to be companions.

I would hope that 2 people can ride 1 horse in Skyrim, considering the horses appear to be draft horses.
